Bruno Arpino is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Spain, where he is also Co-Director of the Research and Expertise Centre on Survey Methodology (RECSM). His research interests are in the areas of social demography and applied statistics. He is particularly interested in studying intergenerational relationships, ageing and health, fertility and immigrants assimilation. He coordinates a three-year international project titled Care, Retirement & Wellbeing of Older People Across Different Welfare Regimes (CREW). Vern L. Bengtson is Research Professor in the Roybal Institute on Aging at the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, University of Southern California (USC), CA, and AARP (American Association of Retired Persons)/University Professor of Gerontology Emeritus. A past president of the Gerontological Society of America, he has published 19 books and 260 research articles on ageing, families and intergenerational relationships. Over his 50-year scholarly career, Bengtsons research contributions have been recognised in the form of Distinguished Scholar awards from four major professional associations. Among his recent books are How Families Still Matter: A Longitudinal Study of Youth in Two Generations, The Handbook of Theories of Aging and Families and Faith: How Religion Is Passed Down across Generations.
Judith E. Brown is a Research Officer at the University of New South Wales, Australia. She specialises in applied social statistical analysis and has considerable expertise in time-use analysis. She has published in the fields of social policy, sociology, psycho-oncology and health psychology.
Lyn Craig is Professor of Sociology and Social Policy and Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Her research interests include time use and gender, workforce participation, intersections between the family and the economy, intergenerational connections over the life course, and comparative family and social policy.
Giorgio Di Gessa is a lecturer in Global Ageing at Kings College London, UK. He completed his PhD in Demography at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. He has a longstanding interest in the field of social gerontology, particularly in the demographic and social determinants of health and wellbeing in later life in Europe. He has a particular interest in associations between social engagement (such as caring, volunteering and paid work) and mental and physical health at older ages. Much of his work involves cross-national comparisons of the complex relationships between ageing and health using longitudinal secondary data and a life-course perspective. Dr Di Gessa has a keen interest and expertise in quantitative methodologies, including hierarchical modelling and causal inference.
