A group of dynamic single mothers came together with one goal in mind: to provide representation for black mothers out there who have felt like they could not follow their dreams. This book is an emotional filled journey of how we battled through the journey of self-sabotage, self-doubt, guilt, traumatic experiences and more.
You will be inspired through stories of overcoming the stigmas of teen motherhood, divorce, poverty mindset, escaping limiting environments, elevating to a place of self-confidence and multi-business ownership well on their way to building legacies for their children and generational wealth.
Throughout the chapters youll witness the unveiling of vulnerability and motivation that it took for each woman to recognize the inner work they needed to do in order to get out of their own way and to excel through their success.

M

y name is Latasha Matthews, and I am known as America's Emotional Wellness expert. I have over 12 years of Human Resources experience and 15 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, author, educator, consultant, and entrepreneur. If you are reading this book and if you are anything like me, then you have probably messed up a few times, lost your way, and had to scratch and tug your way out of a few rough situations. Or maybe you are just starting your journey, you have a goal, a vision, and no money or resources to birth it. However, this book found you. I know you are in the right place at the right time, reading a book that might give you the hope and resources you need to keep moving forward.

When I was asked to write the foreword for, She's Dope: From Single Mom to CEO, I became excited because I found the authors revealing a lot of the stumbles, missteps, and struggles I encountered during my lifes journey and my journey as an entrepreneur. I wish I had a guide when I started my business that highlighted stories from women that shared some of the same struggles I faced because I had no idea what to do and ultimately, I had to figure things out on my own.

She's Dope represents every woman who has to persevere, pivot, start over, and put themselves first to get things done. This guide highlights resilience, faith, passion, and the vulnerability needed to navigate tough times and accomplish your goals. This guide is like no other. See, She's Dope is a resource for every woman, single mother, or entrepreneur who has been told no, who had a dream delayed, or who had a praying grandmama who believed in you and your vision.

I know Shes Dope will change your perspective on entrepreneurship, navigating tough times, resilience, and perseverance. It will provide you a source of strength to never give up. The guide provides you the tools that you need to reach your destiny. If you are serious about birthing your vision, then this guide is for you. If you are ready to get out of your own way, then this guide is for you.

As you read and connect with the authors stories, my hope is that you find courage, strength, and the support to fight through life's challenges.

As you read this guide, remember to TRUST YOUR PROCESS because she is You and you are dope.

Dear Reader T hank you for taking the time to explore this book Whether - photo 3

Dear Reader,

T

hank you for taking the time to explore this book. Whether you bought it, or it was gifted to you I am glad that Shes Dope found its way to you. I hope that this blesses you as much as it did for me to write and connect with the other authors and share our journey.

The journey of single motherhood has its own set of challenges but to add on the dreams and goals that you deserve adds an extra layer of twists and turns. I truly believe that the life of a mompreneur is the ultimate faith walk. I am also a firm believer that nothing happens by chance. You were destined to be reading this book at this time. You are a phenomenal woman in your own right and destined for greatness! Its time for you to explore your dreams and make them a reality. I am hoping that by reading this book, it gives you that final push to step out of your comfort zone and get uncomfortable so that you can give birth to the life of your dreams.

The ladies in this book will give you a glimpse into their journey from a whirlwind of emotions, failures, determination, to break barriers , and shatter glass ceilings. Each and everyone in this book have weathered journeys with no clear route, no one to model after in order to create legacies for their children. They fought through the doubts shadowing their every move by the naysayers, got back up after every knock down, and instead of going down the roads already paved but littered with roadblocks they created their own lanes. This book will truly inspire you to understand that no matter your circumstances, no matter where you started, if you want it, then you can achieve it.

When I started my journey into entrepreneurship as a single mother, I was told many things but none of it afforded me growth or confidence. I learned to leave those who either had the same problems as me or couldnt see the vision I had for me. Instead, I surrounded myself with those who had my solutions, in other words those I could learn from.

I surrounded myself with those who would nourish but it was a journey. I had to first understand myself and heal some emotional and psychological baggage I continued to carry around. It hindered me from making progress in all areas of my life and therefore it hindered my ability to be a great business owner. Make no mistakes about this journey, it's a tough one and you cannot take this journey thinking that there arent some things you likely need to transform internally before that success can be tangible. If there is anything you are struggling with internally it's going to show up in your work ethic, your vision, and your motivation.

I hope that as you read each one of our stories that it becomes a ministry for you and you are able to have the breakthrough you need to level up in your goals for yourself. You control your destiny. Do not ever let anyone put a cap on the desires of your heart. Do not ever let anyone but YOU write the chapters of your life. YOU are the author and the narrator of the plans that you have in your life. It is your time to let your dopeness shine through sis! Get out of your own way.
