The truth about Agave
The majority of agave is grown and produced in Southern Mexico. A few years ago at the Natural Product Expo East in Boston, I had a very enlightening and unexpected conversation with a Mexican farmer about agave via a Spanish translator. When I told him that I had never tried agave that tasted or looked like his agave, this very passionate farmer told me that he was very angry because a lot of his neighboring farmers were adding cheap high fructose corn syrup to their agave during the manufacturing phase. I was shocked to say the least. This is why I only recommend high fructose corn syrup free organic agave. How do you know if your brand of agave is high fructose corn syrup free? Simply give them a call and ask them. Here are 2 brands that I trust to be 100% pure agave nectar: Madhava and Aunt Pattys.
Why high fructose corn syrup free Organic Agave and not sugar or stevia?
High fructose corn syrup free Organic agave has a very low glycemic index, meaning theres no spiking of blood sugar levels. High fructose corn syrup free organic agave is a delicious alternative for diabetics or anyone wanting to avoid the unhealthy side effects associated with sugar and artificial sweeteners.
