A message from the author
Its a pleasure to present you with The Metabolic Clock Cookbook.
My first book, The Metabolic Clock, covers everything you need to know about my philosophy on losing weight and gaining energy naturally. This book includes more recipes and shows just how easy it is to create healthy, delicious food from natural ingredients. All the recipes were developed using the principles of The Metabolic Clock and are designed to speed up your metabolism. I really enjoyed creating these recipes and feel that I have improved my health even more with these nourishing, and often vegetarian, meals.
The recipes and way of eating and living that I suggest are far more enjoyable than a diet and you will feel more energised as you gradually add the suggested healthy, daily practices to your life. The first practice I suggest you adopt is to actually make the time to prepare healthy food dont you owe it to yourself to nourish your body and gain the energy to live life to the fullest?
I used to think I was too busy to cook. Then I began cooking with love and thinking about how to nourish my body. This shift in attitude has been the most important change I have made the wellbeing that springs forth has touched every corner of my life.
Since the launch of The Metabolic Clock in February 2011, I have toured the country and met thousands of people at libraries, community groups, corporations and MindBodySpirit events. It has been insightful for me to learn about the weight-loss and health challenges that people face today.
When I was growing up, it was rare to see an overweight kid and degenerative diseases were for the elderly. Today, there are so many options available for people to lose weight yet, as a nation, we still havent succeeded in beating the 21st century disease of obesity. Where did we go wrong? Slowly, over many years and in part due to our busy lifestyles we have lost some simple health values. We are now paying the ultimate price with sluggish metabolisms, diminished health and weight gain.
Most people think that dieting is all about heavy exercise and starvation. One lady told me that if she saw another professional who told her she needed to exercise hard for one hour every day, she would punch them. She had injuries to both her knees and found walking difficult how could she even contemplate exercise? Unfortunately, she gave up even trying to lose weight and be healthy.
Of course, there are still thousands of people who try the next diet, potion, pill or shake with moderate success for the short term. But why go to the effort of being on a diet or training hard only to revert back to the lifestyle that wasnt working for you in the first place?
Fad diets and products that promise quick weight loss can unbalance your metabolism, leaving you feeling sluggish. In order to achieve weight loss over the long term, the key is to create a healthy, balanced, daily routine that you can sustain. The Metabolic Clock shows you certain lifestyle changes that can make an amazing difference to your life. It guides you towards weight loss and improved health as a way of life.
Balance in all things.
I suggest you start with a lifestyle check-up. This will identify the practices that have become the bad habits that continually contribute to your lack of health and ultimately, weight gain. I also recommend that you read the first book, The Metabolic Clock. It has more recipes, meal-plans and strategies to encourage and create a healthy way of thinking.
Within the pages of The Metabolic Clock Cookbook, you will discover habits to stop, habits to swap and habits to start. Based on the principles of The Metabolic Clock, these healthy habits will speed up your metabolism so that you can lose weight easily and have more energy.
These healthy practices are a lifelong approach to your health and wellbeing. Its not about rushing in and out of a diet. Its about being consistent. By gradually incorporating these practices into your daily life, you will bring about balance within yourself and achieve sustainable weight loss.
I hope you enjoy these delicious recipes as much as I enjoyed creating them for you.

What is The Metabolic Clock?
Your metabolism is linked to natures rhythms via your internal body clock. The daily cycle of sunrise and sunset triggers the release of hormones in the human body that manage appetite, energy, mood and sleep. However, modern living and lifestyle patterns have dramatically altered our ability to respond to natures cues. This can result in a slow metabolism, weight gain and a general lack of energy. When you are out of sync with natures rhythms, nothing feels right.
Think of your metabolism like a miniature sun. At sunrise its waking up, it gathers momentum and is at its peak at midday, then it glides gently into sunset slowing down and resting. Now relate this to the modern lifestyle pattern of a late breakfast or no breakfast at all, a late lunch and a large dinner at night. With this eating pattern, you are eating most of your food during your metabolisms slowest cycle. Your body has to work hard to digest the food and you may wake up feeling very sluggish and tired.
