Acknowledgments
First and foremost Id like to thank my wonderful wife, Nicole, for her constant support, love and the eternal sense of fun that she brings to our family life. She has always encouraged me to follow my instincts and take chances in life that have attributed greatly to my career success. Nicole helps to keep my geek side nice and balanced by providing creative input and ideas for many of my projects. Nicole is a professional photographer and this is the reason that Ive built a number of photography-related apps (Portfolio Pro, Portfolio to Go). Check out her work at www.nicolecarman.com.
My nine year-old son Finn never fails to make me smile and laugh when we hang out. He loves the fact his dad is an Apple developer. Hes even taught me a thing or two about iOS having become a mini techie expert himself in knowing his way around iPads and iPods and all the best games of course.
Id like to thank Felipe Laso Marsetti for his great tech advice and enthusiasm about this book throughout the course of its development.
A special mention of thanks to Douglas Pundick for his expertise and mentorship that have helped shape my book into a manuscript that Im very proud of.
Thanks to Jill Balzano for keeping me on schedule and always being on hand to advise.
Thanks to Steve Anglin for approving my book proposal and for making this all possible.
Last but by no means least, thanks to my mum and dad for all their love and encouragement throughout my life
Introduction
My programming roots originated with Flash in 1999 when I first started writing object-oriented Games and Applications in ActionScript. More recently, in 2009, shortly after Apple launched the App Store and opened up their exciting new mobile platform to third parties, I decided to jump ship and become an iPhone Developer.
