About the author
Chef and world-traveler Yvonne Stephens was born in the Netherlands, and as a true Dutch woman, she traveled all over the world, from Latin-America, Asia, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and to most countries in Europe. The love of cooking comes from both her grandmother and mother, who cooked traditional Dutch cuisine and made fresh meals every day. For hundreds of years, the Dutch ruled the spice trade from the Far East to Europe, and because Indonesia was part of the Dutch Royal Kingdom, the taste for Asian food, and creating dishes with a wide variety of herbs and spices, is characteristic of the Dutch.
The philosophy of Amazing 7 Minute Meals is to eat all six nutrients, educating the reader about herbs, spices, hard and soft vegetables, and about the benefits of fresh wholesome food. Using the ancient stir-fry technique, the recipes are cooked quickly, which results in slower digestion, thus resulting in fewer cravings and a greater balance of blood sugar levels. Due to the healthy ingredients, this book will help you fight cardiovascular diseases and lose weight. Yvonne understands that lack of time is the main reason people eat fast food or grab a frozen meal. Sadly, most of those meals are prepared with preservatives, enriched flour, and the worst enemy for our body, trans fats. Yvonne also knows that losing weight is a frustrating problem for peopleand keeping it off is even worse.
She conquered the eating disorder bulimia and has tried every diet possible, including the prison diet of bread and water. She has been yo-yoinglosing and gaining weightfor years. She has learned the real reason why diets do not work: You are starving your body of something it "needs." Most diets tell you to cut out nutrients your body needs, but this creates cravings. As a former spinning, step, and kick box instructor, she learned that an active lifestyle combined with healthy eating is the only way is to lose weight and keep it off. Healthy eating doesnt mean that you have to eat like a rabbit or eliminate bread, rice, and pasta for the rest of your life. Yvonne explains all this in her book Amazing 7 Minute Meals.
As a graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Yvonne has a vast knowledge of ingredients and cooking techniques.
