Preface

Heart failure is a complex syndrome. The approach to heart failure is equally complex. It is nave to believe that one clinician can provide such needed complex care that is multifaceted and addresses not only the multiplicity of etiologies of heart failure but involves family and caregiver; provides ongoing education, support, and nutritional advice; and takes into consideration the psychosocial aspects of each patient. It is, in fact, impossible. This book presents the true multidisciplinary approach to this common syndrome. The authors are professionals who actively practice and care for heart failure patients, each in their own specialty. The book is not meant to be a cookbook for care but a guide that opens doors to the possibilities.
