About the Author

Marty Matthews played with some of the first mainframe computers, the ones that took up half a football field and still used vacuum tubes, and from those to the latest iPad and iPhone, he has never lost his fascination with computers. He has been everything from a programmer to a software company president and many steps in between. Throughout he has worked to bring others along with him and help them make the best use of all that computers can do. Toward that end, he has written over 80 books on software and computing subjects, with many becoming bestsellers and receiving a number of accolades.

His recent books include iPad for Seniors QuickSteps, Windows 8.1 for Seniors QuickSteps, and Windows 8 QuickSteps.

Marty and his wife Carole, also a writer, are the co-creators of the QuickSteps books and live on an island northwest of Seattle, Washington.

About the Technical Editor

Anne Dotsons passions are technology and education. She was an early PC adopter and is constantly exploring new software. She is a Google Certified Teacher, a Google Apps Certified Trainer, and a Microsoft Innovative Educator. Long before most people were aware of computers, Anne took computer science courses, and a very early course on the Internet and HTML put on by NASA. Most of Annes professional career has been as a teacher, from elementary education, to home economics, to high school English and special programs. She pioneered two separate high school programs: one in character education, where she wrote three books on the subject, and the other in critical thinking, where she established a new program to teach and test the subject. Most recently, Anne has married her two passions by working as the Technology Integration Specialist in her local school district, where she introduced the iPod and iPad into the school program and brought the district teachers and staff up to speed on the subject. She is never very far from her iPad and iPhone, and when she is on the move, which is most of the time, her iPad is under her arm and her iPhone is in her hand.
