Introduction
Inthis book you find steps towards becoming a model and glamourphotographer. A genre of photography that shows and helps to sellfashion, hair styles and make-up products. While the genre Glamouris actually not so easily defined. Glamour photography celebrates thewoman and her beauty. It might include topless and nude art, but itdoes not necessarily show everything. There is a certain quality toglamour that respects a woman and shows her in the best light. It'snot smutty. It's a glamourous, knife-edge purity, the celebration ofbeauty and charme.
Andwithin this whole genre you find fashion photography, underwear, lingerie, swimwear. It could also mean hair photography. Just lookaround your local hairdresser, the pictures are all there on the wallfor you to study. And of course make up. Faces. Or body parts (stillattached to the body (smile). Like hands, feet, mouth, lips etc. etc.
It'sgreat fun working with people in this way and meeting and takingpictures of glamourous women. But there is a creative processinvolved if you want stunning pictures. Let's find out and go for it...
Ifphotography is just a hobby to you or you want to earn a living thisway, let me say - the job you do should be fun and you should loveit, Love what you're doing and you'll never work a day in yourlife.
Photographyis not about gadgets, well to some it might be, but first of all it'sa great form and expression of art. Beauty is in the eye of thebeholder. That goes for people, landscapes, still lives, objects, even weddings, that's fine. It does not have to be just a professionlike a technician, but a lifestyle, and an all consuming passion.
PersonallyI'm viewing it as an art form and a wonderful way of meetinginteresting people. And there is nothing more beautiful and artisticthan the human body and face. Personally I find taking pictures ofpeople very interesting, also because it's not a lonely job, but youare dealing with people, usually young women or men who desire to beor already are models.
Ofcourse there could be a purpose in this like you are working for aclient, like a company selling fashion, swimwear, make-up or hairproducts. But you don't need a reason. Just start and pursuit it forthe fun of it.

Photography Discovery and Passion
Iwas given a camera as a kid on one of my birthdays. That's how it allstarted, that's how I got into photography. I was hooked.
Itook my camera along wherever I went. To family outings. We woulddrive to the Westfalen Park in Dortmund, Germany. Thefirst you saw when you got there, were the pink flamingos stalkingaround an artificial lake. I was fascinated. And we would also visitthe adjacent botanical gardens. You already heard the squawking ofthe peacocks from far off, before you even got there. There were somany different types of flowers, and so beautiful. I loved them alland kept taking pictures of them all day long. This way I could takethem home with me. I would stick them into an album and keep lookingat them and showed everyone who was interested.
LaterI had a kit with which you could build your own camera! I wasso excited. I put it together and it worked! It really took pictures, incredible!
Thisdiscovery of photography greatly enriched my life. The only ceilingto develop it fully and move far and take loads of pictures was theprice of developing the pictures. Some of you remember, you would getlittle rolls of film with 24 and 36. Odd, compared to today's digitalsize of memory. But it was alright. You took more care in taking eachand every one of your pictures. Nowadays you easily take 500+ imagesduring a photo shooting in a couple of hours.
Thereis so much space on today's memory cards. What a blessing! You can doan entire shoot in raw using one or two cards. Amazing, and you don'teven have to develop them any more. Thank God for that.
Ofcourse there are amazing photographers whose pictures are out of thisworld. Professionals who have been taking images all their lives. Andthere are also the semi-pros and amateurs. While the first clearlyearn their living this way and you would expect them to know whatthey are doing, amateur status today doesn't necessarily meanbeginner or shoddy. To the contrary. There are amateurs whose imagesare out of this world. You can learn the technique but count yourselfblessed, if you also got the talent to create stunning photographs.
Notmuch later, I wasn't even in my teens, I won first prize in aregional photo competition.
Sadlylater in life other things pressed in and occupied my life likeeducation, jobs, marriage, church. So photography was kept on theshelf for a very long time. Of course I kept making photos, but morewithin the family and church context, things like that...
Untila few years ago, when making friends with a model and herphotographer, everything came back to life. Walk with me a few steps,so you yourself will also become a great model and glamourphotographer.

It'sexciting to take pictures of people. Of course it's different tolandscape and product photography, believe me. While there you'redealing with objects and you can take all the time in the world toset up lighting and keep doings things differently, unless you're ona schedule of course.
