I love yourGooseberry Patchcookbooks! They are like a dear friend. Each year as autumn approaches, I curl up with a blanket and start slowly turning the pages as once again I devour the stories and make a list of all the recipes I cant wait to try! I never tire of reading them over & over.

Its September! Time to bring out my favoriteGooseberry Patchcookbook, Taste of Autumn. This is the time of year when I look up the Velvety Smooth Pumpkin Soup or Rosemary Roasted Pork Loin. Theres a special pleasure in knowing that a mother in Montana or a grandmother in Pennsylvania shared her recipe with this grandma in Wisconsin. Want something special for that Harvest Feast at church? How about Pumpkin Fudge? My favorite comment was I dont care for sweetsbut can I take some home for later? Thank you, Gooseberry Patch!

I just wanted to let you know that I loved the Mini Turkey Berry Bites and a couple of other recipes in your 101 Autumn Recipes cookbook. I picked up this book in a hardware store and I am so glad I made the purchase. My friend was so impressed with lunch that I shared the recipes with her. Thanks again for your great choices in recipes!

On the first day of school, my kids always just loved it when I made these pancakes, marked with their initials! We still have fun making pumpkin face pancakes for Halloween too.

2 c. biscuit baking mix

1 c. milk

2 eggs, beaten

Garnish: butter, pancake syrup

In a bowl, whisk together biscuit mix, milk and eggs until well mixed. Pour about 1/2 cup batter into a plastic squeeze bottle with a narrow tip; set aside. Heat a lightly greased griddle over medium heat. Squeeze batter from squeeze bottle onto hot griddle to form a letter of the alphabet, remembering to make the letter backwards. Cook just until golden on the bottom; pour 1/4 cup batter over the letter. Cook until bubbles appear at the edges; turn and cook other side until golden. Serve with butter and syrup. Makes 6 servings.
