INTRODUCTION

Hello! My name is Nina Harrington and I am the award-winning author of 19 romance and romantic mystery novels with sales of over one million copies in 28 countries around the world in 23 languages.

But I know how hard it is to take that first step on the publishing ladder.

In 2002, I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my full-time career so that I could realise my dream and write the stories that I knew were burning inside of me.

I decided to learn everything I could about the craft of creating a compelling romance novel and also about the business aspects of being a professional author.

It was tough. When I started writing fiction it was almost impossible to find training courses on commercial fiction and especially romance fiction.

It took me six years to win a contract with a major publisher and I had countless rejections along the way.
