about the author

Donna Dewberry is a wife, mother of seven, grandmother and native Floridian and loves anything to do with painting, crafting and decorating. She has always been involved in decorating and redecorating her home and often someone elses, too. She loves making her home a place her family can be proud of. Even though usually on a very limited budget, she always used her painting ability and creativity to bring beauty and comfort to her home.

Donna is a teacher and author of four other North Light books, DonnaDewberrys Complete Book of One-Stroke Painting, Decorative Murals withDonna Dewberry, Decorative Furniture with Donna Dewberry and PaintingGarden Decor with Donna Dewberry. Donna can be seen on the PBS and QVC television networks teaching her One-Stroke technique to hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Donnas One-Stroke painting workshop certification classes are taught all over the country. Also offered is a Two-Day Wall Seminar class for those who are interested in painting walls using the One-Stroke technique. And she also offers classes for those who want to become certified as a Home Decor Specialist or Wall and Furniture Specialist. It is very difficult to single out one person for dedication of this book, but as my husband so eloquently puts it, it is my duty.

After some thought and recent reflections on and about my friends and loved ones, I have decided to whom I will dedicate this book. I am dedicating this book to four very important young ladies in my lifemy daughters.

I would like to dedicate this book to Anna, age 16, Amanda, age 20, Kara, age 23 and Maria, who would have been 25. My daughters, not only do I love you, but I am proud of each of you and the young ladies you have become. I know we havent always seen eye to eye, but you are and always will be treasures in my life.

I love each of you and am honored to be your mother. You are talented, each in your own way, and I truly admire this uniqueness. When counting the blessings in my life I am forever thankful for each one of you.

I think the very best compliment I can receive from my customers is: You know, I feel as though I have known you forever. What that translates to in my business has been phenomenal, not so much monetarily as that my customers are comfortable and confident with my abilities and judgment. My experience as a mother, housewife, decorative painter, crafter and informal designer has given me certain skills that probably were learned only through those channels. I firmly believe that all of us are in possession of certain talents and that we can do anything we put our minds to.
