Dedication & Thanks
I would like to dedicate this book and give my biggest thanks to my loving husband and darling daughter. Thank you hubby for putting up with so much from me while I was working on this book. And despite it all, you made my beautiful cover, proofread the entire book and gave me lots of helpful hints and tips. Thank you sweet daughter. You were a big help to me while I was creating and photographing this project. Without the two of you, it would not have been possible!
I would also like to thank you, the reader, for purchasing this book. Without you, this book would not be a success.
Please make sure you review this book on Amazon.com . I would love to know your thoughts regarding this project.
I hope you enjoy this guide and wish you the best of luck in making beautiful baby crafts of your own!
Introduction
This book is specifically designed for beginners who want to make a beautiful diaper butterfly in less than an hour! Step-by-step pictures, along with detailed instructions, show you how to transform a handful of items into a cute diaper craft.
Once completed, the diaper butterfly can be used to accent a variety of baby gifts, including diaper cakes, diaper wreaths, diaper bundles, towel cakes, gift baskets and much, much more!
Preparation
What You Will Need:
2 Diapers Size 1 or 2
3 (or 6) Tulle (coordinating color)
Baby Washcloth (color of your choice)
Chenille Stem/Pipe Cleaner (coordinating color)
1 Large Clear Hair Rubber Band
Curling Ribbon (coordinating color)
Scissors
Scotch Tape
Butterfly Body
Take the baby washcloth that you have chosen for this project and fold it in half. This will become the body of your butterfly.
If you do not have a baby washcloth that matches your tulle and/or your curling ribbon, you can always reverse the fold and use white for the base color of your diaper butterfly.
*Note: The white body of the butterfly added to the white background of the wings (diapers) may cause your project to be too bland for your taste.
Once you have folded your washcloth in half, make sure you lay it on a flat surface (with the product tag on top if you are reversing the cloth to use a white base color).
Take a chenille stem/pipe cleaner that coordinates with the tulle and/or curling ribbon you have purchased. This will become the antennae of the butterfly.
Bend the pipe cleaner so that the ends touch each other.
Press the pipe cleaner halves together. Match sure the tips line up with each other.
Place the pipe cleaner on the washcloth. Set this off to the side for a moment.
Grab the curling ribbon and one of the baby diapers.
Wrap the curling ribbon completely around the baby diaper. This ribbon will be used to secure the butterfly body to its wings.
Overcut the curling ribbon by an inch or two. This can be trimmed later if needed.
Lay the ribbon beside the pipe cleaner on the washcloth. If your ribbon will not lay straight for you, use a piece of tape to hold it in place.
Pick one side of the washcloth and begin rolling. Before starting this process, it is a good idea to tear off 4 strips of tape, 1 to 1 inch in length. Set these off to the side in an easy to grab spot.
Continue rolling the washcloth until your reach the pipe cleaner and curling ribbon that is lying in the center.
Envelope the pipe cleaner and curling ribbon into the washcloth roll.
Continue rolling your washcloth until you reach the end. It should look like this.
