1) AFGHAN STITCH: For Afghan stitch pattern of knitting you need two different colors (X and Y) of yarn and two needles. To start: Make loops in multiple of 12 and add five to the total. For example, if you have made 24 loops you need to add another five loops to meet the basic requirement of Afghan knitting pattern. Cast on with any color of your choose. Row 1 : Cast on with color X, you can pick any of the color and knit one row. Now, start from the right side with color white, purl one, knit one, slip one, slip one, knit two together.

Now, knit nine, slip two, knit one, pass slip stitch over. Repeat knit nine, slip two, knit one, pass slip stitch over and end the row by knitting nine, knit two together, knit one and slip one as if to knit. Row two: Start with color X, purl one and knit one. Now, purl one, knit four; knit one, yarn over, knit one in next stitch, knit four. Continue to purl one, knit four; knit one, yarn over and knit one in next stitch, knit four. End the row with purl one and knit one, slip one as if to knit.

Rows three and four : With Color X, continue with the knitting patterns of rows one and two. Once having completed the four rows you will see the Afghan stitching pattern. Row three : Purl five, knit three, purl five; now keep repeating knit three and purl five until the last loop is covered. Row four : Repeat the knitting pattern of row two. Row five : Knit the row five. Row six : When row six is reached, knit one, purl three, knit five; keep repeating purl three and knit five until the last four loops in the needle are left. For the last for loops purl three and knit one. Row seven : purl one, knit three, purl five; keep on knit three and purl five until the last four loops are left in the needle.

For the last four loops knit three and purl one. Row eight : Rep Row six. 3) BROKEN RIB : This pattern looks different on the right side from its wrong side and can be knit with either odd number of stitches or even. For odd number of stitches Row one : Start knitting from the wrong side. Row two : Purl one, knit one, and keep on repeating the process until the last loop is reached. Purl the last loop.

For even number of stitches Row one : Again from the wrong side start knitting. Row two : knit one and purl one keep repeating till the last loop. 4) CABLED FEATHER : For this particular pattern, you will need to cast a large number of loops. Cabled feather pattern is best suitable for large projects like Afghans, but you can also this pattern to knit scarf. You will need to cast on loops in multiple of 18. For cabled feathered pattern keep at least 36 loops.

Row one : Purl starting from the wrong side of the project.
Row two : For three times knit two together, yearn over, knit one for six times, three times knit two together again; repeat this process until the row ends.
Row three : Knit 15, purl six, knit 12; keep purling six and knitting 12 until last three loops are left. Knit the last three loops.
Row four : Knit 15, slip next three loops to cable needle and hold in back, knit three, then knit three from cable needle, knit 12. from keep slipping net three loops to cable needle and hold in back, knit three, then knit three from cable needle, knit 12 unit the last three loops are left. Knit the last three loops.
