This new cookbook, Slow-Cooker Fall Favorites, is wonderful. I didnt realize that you can make just about anything in a slow cooker! Many of the recipes are comfort foods. The recipes use ingredients that are easy to find, if you dont already have them in your home. The memories that people have shared are fun to read, and the little tips added throughout the book are helpful and creative. I cant wait to start trying new recipes in my slow cooker...I will get a lot of use out of this new Gooseberry Patch book!

My latest cookbook just arrived in the mail. I am like a kid in a candy store! Now I had to struggle through work before I could break it open when I got home. I immediately started reading and marking recipes. We have already tried quite a few and are in love with everyones recipes! Great job on the book and great job to everyone who shared such wonderful go-to meals. Absolutely love my Gooseberry Patch books!

A big Thanks to all of our friends who shared their very best slow-cooker recipes with us.
Cheddar Cheese Strata

My favorite egg recipe for late-morning brunches. Sometimes we enjoy it as breakfast-for-dinner too.
3 c. milk
14 slices white bread, torn and divided
3 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 c. butter, diced and divided
6 eggs, beaten
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 t. salt
paprika to taste
Warm milk in a saucepan over low heat just until bubbles form; remove from heat. In a well-greased slow cooker, layer half each of bread, cheese and butter; set aside. In a bowl, whisk together warm milk and remaining ingredients except paprika. Pour into slow cooker; sprinkle with paprika. Cover and cook on low setting for 4 to 6 hours, until set. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
A simple fruit salad goes well with brunch dishes. Cut seasonal fruit into bite-size pieces and toss with a simple dressing made of equal parts honey and lemon juice. Add a sprinkle of poppy seed or chopped fresh mint.
Family-Favorite Potatoes

Packed with bacon and cheese, these potatoes are our favorite for weekend breakfasts. We love them at dinnertime too.
4 russet potatoes, peeled, cubed and divided
1/4 c. onion, chopped and divided
salt and pepper to taste
2 T. butter, diced and divided
6 slices bacon, crisply cooked, crumbled and divided
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
In a lightly greased slow cooker, layer half each of potatoes and onion; season with salt and pepper. Add half each of remaining ingredients. Repeat layering, ending with cheese. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours, until potatoes are tender. Serves 4 to 6.
