Who This Book is For

This book was written with creative writers or fiction writers in mind; however, learning to dictate can be relevant for non-fiction writers, bloggers, stay-at-home parents, teachers, students, small business ownersyou get the gist. It's applicable to just about anyone with writing to do!

How much do you write? Would you rather save your poor hands by not typing so much? Would you be interested in speaking your ideas instead, assuming it didnt feel awkward?

Because it lengthens your leash. As in, that invisible tether that determines how long you have to stay fastened to a chair. Imagine being able to craft your words, worlds, and wild propositions for humanity to mull over, while having more freedom! Dictation is about a more flexible writing lifestyle.

Dictation also manufactures more hours in the day-- or seems to, because dictation is potentially faster than typing or handwriting. As in, epically faster in my experience! This guide gives you an overview as well as a practical framework for what learning dictation is likely to require of you.

Those are two of the main reasons I've found for embracing dictation, but in the next few pages I'll introduce you to many more. So if you're at all curious about dictation as a productivity option, this book is for you.

What This Book Isnt

Please know that HOW TO DICTATE YOUR WRITING LIKE ITS 2015 does not include specific buying advice for you individually. Like Economics 101 taught us, the tradeoffs among accuracy, price, and plenty of other factors can be widely different from person to person.

For that reason, Im of course not going to tell you what you should buy or not buy and obviously some legwork and research of your own should be expected. But I do make general recommendations and tell you what I use, and I'll give you tons of ideas on how to practice dictation, through a system of drills. You will find more about this on the next page.

Please also know that this resource is not intended to replace full-fledged, program-specific how-to guides. Programs such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking now have interactive tutorials as soon as you start the program, not to mention 100+-page user manuals, quick start guides, and many other resources.
