F or as long as I can remember I have been passionate about food. But, for many years, I also struggled with my weight and accepting my bodyand Im guessing that some of you can relate to my experience. I grew up in the 1980s and 90s, when convenience trumped health in most food situations. Fast food was commonplace on our dinner table, as were all sorts of prepackaged meals filled with empty calories and hydrogenated fats.
Comfort food was then the bulk of my diet and I never thought twice about it: it tasted great, was easy to obtain, and everyone else was eating that way. As I grew into my teens, I realized that I couldnt maintain a healthy weight on these junk and comfort foods, and I found myself turning to food restriction and dieting more often than Id like to admit.
