She is a joy in my life and if you are considering getting a dog, I encourage you to check out your own local pet shelter. The reason I created Sophys Book and will be creating more books like this is that my adult son has Down Syndrome and I could not find appropriate books for him to read. Since Im a writer, it was natural to think of creating a book for him. I used photographs because he can relate better to those than to drawings. Each page has something heand other children or impaired adultscan relate to. I have seen over the years that if my son relates personally to something, he is much more likely to want and be able to read it.
