ABOUT THE AUTHOR
After studying economics at the University of Colorado and working for the cooperative movement of Colombia, Stephen R. Niblo earned his Ph.D. in Latin American history from Northern Illinois University in 1972. He taught at two universities in Mexico from 1970 to 1976 and currently is a senior lecturer at La Trobe University in Melbourne. In addition to writing over twenty journal articles and book chapters, he is the author of A Short History of the Cold War (1994), coeditor of Cuba: Thirty Years of Revolution (1990), and coauthor of Precursores de la revolucin agraria en Mxico: Las obras de Wistano Luis Orozco y Andrs Molina Enrquez (1975). Dr. Niblo is a frequent media commentator in Australia on issues and developments relating to Latin America.
