Preface
An ostrich named Alexander tried to kill Clyde Hill late in the night of Sunday, January 20,1935. It was cold10 degrees below zero. Hill, the director of Denver's zoo, had entered the bird's enclosure to make certain that it had taken shelter. In the gloom Hill trudged toward what he thought was a large rock.
