Great American Quotes to Echo 64
In 1776 Thomas Paine wrote a pamphlet that was widely distributed around the thirteen original colonies in what would become the United States. It was titled Common Sense and helped change the prevailing feelings regarding remaining a colony of Great Britain or becoming an independent nation. The Declaration of Independence was written soon and there was no turning back. The eventual result was a prosperous new nation without royalty ruling over the people, but a new elected government. Many individual rights were guaranteed by our Constitution including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all non-slaves (things were less clear for the Native American tribes living among us as many were also treated poorly). It was obviously not a perfect system, but it was better than anything that existed in the world at that time. In the 19th century slavery was eliminated and at least in theory all people born here had full rights. It really took another 100 years for individuals of different races to gain close to the proper treatment our constitution demands.
However, starting gradually in the 20th century, Americans allowed the Federal government to take power over the individual and business in the name of protection and some kind of equality. This created a growing ruling class. It was even necessary to pass an amendment to the constitution to create an income tax over 100 years ago because it was correctly perceived as a violation of our constitutional rights. Now we had to report private information regarding our income to the Federal Government. Before this time nearly all taxes collected were user fees of some type which did not affect our privacy. It was thought that this gradual increase in power by the Federal government would help make our country become a fairer and more equitable place to live, but actually it did neither. Now, 100 years since the creation of the IRS, there are many overlapping agencies involved in all areas of our life and business.
Also 100 years ago our government was fooled by the elites of the day to vote for the creation of a private central bank known as the Federal Reserve Bank. Since the creation of this so-called bankers bank the value of our currency has gradually collapsed by more than 95% by all measures. This bank did not prevent depressions, panics, or the formation of bubbles in our economy as was part of its official mission. What it did do was allow our Federal Government the ability to run huge deficits especially during times of wars. In the 21rst century we have been in a state of constant war and exploding deficits (The National Debt has gone from under $6 trillion in 2000 to over $18 trillion by the end of 2014). We have had consecutive years of massive money creation since the near collapse in 2008 with near zero interest rates for banks to borrow from as they need. Of course the flip side of this policy is that savers also receive no interest or even negative interest on their money in inflation adjusted terms. How does this benefit the retiree or those trying to save for retirement? It clearly cannot benefit them, but it benefits those who understand this policy and have the money to e xploit it.
Our Federal government would be bankrupt were it not for the Federal Reserve Banks policies and money creation. The economy is not bouncing back well from the panic that occurred in our economy in September 2008. There is too much uncertainty caused by the Federal Government by what it is doing or not doing on taxes, the national debt and excessive regulation or interference in the economy. More importantly, the policies of the Federal Reserve Bank are causing distortions in the economy that favor bubble creation in stock prices and housing prices. Doesnt this picture look familiar to what happened in the past 15 years? Have we not learned anything?
There is growing unrest around the country about what the ruling class is doing because they think they know better than the common citizen with common sense. Our ruling class thinks they have to run deficits averaging around a trillion dollars a year for years to come with a central bank artificially holding down interest rates and creating money well beyond the increase in goods and services available. Any person or business could never operate this way and get away with it for very long. Eventually this complex house of cards will collapse when the wrong set of circumstances occurs to knoc k it over.
The two major parties do not offer enough options to combat this unsustainable usurpation of power by the Federal Government and the Federal Reserve Bank which is no more a part of the Federal Government than Federal Express! It is a private rogue corporation that is in the business of helping the elites maintain their power. Our Federal Government depends on this rogue bank to continue to run its huge deficits.
This corrupt and irresponsible model leaves the door open for a new political party when it becomes apparent to enough people that this model is failing. Already more people identify themselves as independents than identify with one of the two major parties and by the time of the 2016 elections at least a third of the voters would welcome a third party. When roughly half the electorate that do not vote now start to get motivated to vote, who is going to be the one to motivate them to vote? It could only be an outsider who offers truth and something new and clearly different than what they hear from the mainstream politica l parties.
