TAKING BACK AMERICA
Foreword
THEY CALL IT THE AMERICAN DREAM FOR A REASON: Because it is American. It is unique to this land. Of all the countries in the world, it is America and ONLY America that embodies the cherished principle that every human being has a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that those rights come from our Creator and not from government. I dont know what the Chinese Dream would be to have the government not censor their internet and not tell them how many children they can have. Its the American Dream that cherishes liberty and its the reason why were going to lead the world for decades to come.
As you know, America started out with a Tea Party...and that spirit of liberty and individualism has never died out. Our Founding Fathers risked their lives, their property, and their honor to create a country founded on these principles. And they crafted a brilliant Constitution that has preserved those rights for over 200 years.
According to legend, on the day the Constitutional Convention adjourned, Benjamin Franklin walked through the streets of Philadelphia, where a crowd gathered around him. A woman in the crowd asked him, Well, Dr. Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?
Franklin replied, A Republic, if you can keep it.
Today the Tea Party movement optimizes the spirit of the original Founders. But to succeed in any debate, the debater needs to know the facts. Rescuing a Broken America provides the background and solutions needed to take back America and once again establish the American Dream.
Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers,
U.S. House of Representatives, May 27, 2010.
Preface
IN ANOTHER LIFE, OR SO IT SEEMS, I was once a college professor and a research scientist. Never in my wildest imagination did I believe that I would ever have a need to write a book like this. On the other hand, never in my wildest imagination did I believe the American culture would ever become corrupted by an ideology so dangerous that it could destroy America as free society.
I was leading a multimillion dollar research effort on the effects of acid rain and global warming on our nations ecosystems in the late 1980s and 1990s when I began to realize that science was being ignored or politicized for a purpose. Congress spent approximately a billion dollars on research defining various aspects of acid rain and global warming before passing a draconian reauthorization of the Clean Air Act. I was shocked that the severe restrictions were not justified by the science. Worse, a lot of science was taken totally out of context in order to justify the new draconian regulations.
It occurred to me then, that I could be the best scientist in the world and it would make no difference in policy formulation. Science was either ignored or twisted to mean something that the science itself never supported. I began to follow the money trail to try to determine what was driving this madness.
It did not take long to realize there was a huge agenda behind these policy decisions. It soon became crystal clear that part of this agenda was to shift the power away from the people and center it in the government. My generation is probably the last one that was taught the true basis of our Constitutional Republic in public school. What we have today is almost opposite of what our Constitution was supposed to protect us from. Another aspect of the agenda was to create a world government (now called global governance).
Many who pick up this book to read will be deeply offended because it will challenge their core beliefs; their worldview; their reality. It is my hope and prayer that most Americans will be open-minded enough to continue reading to find out how they have been indoctrinated into believing a lie, and perhaps for the first time begin to understand why the Founders organized our government and limited its power by the Constitution.
