This book focuses on the relationship established between China, the worlds second largest economy, and Saudi Arabia, the worlds top oil exporter. Due to Saudi Arabias dominance of the world oil market, China is increasingly focusing its attention on Saudi Arabia as a reliable oil supplier while Saudi Arabia sees China as an enormous potential market and strategic trade partner. It investigates both countries motives for establishing a strategic relationship and outlines the potential for successful cooperation between them. It then goes on to address the wider implications for the United States in the Middle East.
Naser M. Al-Tamimi is a Middle East analyst with particular research interests in energy politics and the political economy of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and Middle EastAsia relations. He has carried out extensive research on various aspects of SaudiChina relations. In addition, he is also a UK-based independent political consultant and journalist. He has written and edited several articles and books, in Arabic and English, on the most pertinent political and economic issues affecting the Middle East. Naser Al-Tamimi holds a PhD degree in Government and International Relations from Durham University, UK.
