adobe: Mud mortar.
Anasazi: A group of people that inhabited the Colorado Plateau region and shared several cultural similarities, now mostly refered to as Ancestral Puebloans.
Ancestral Puebloans: Another name for the Anasazi.
antechamber: A small entrance and storage room attached to the south side of a pithouse.
archaeological site: An area that had been used by humans at some point in the past.
archaeo-astronomy: The study of ancient astronomy.
arroyo: A small gully with steep sides that is usually dry.
atlatl: A short stick or strap attached to the end of a spear and used to extend the length of the arm when throwing the spear.
backfill: To refill an excavation site when finished digging or to protect the site.
