Addressing the social problems associated with trauma and mental health amongst African Americans in urban environments, this book uses an African-centered lens to critique the most common practice models and interventions currently employed by social workers in the field.

  • Collective/group approach
  • Focus on wholeness
  • Oneness with Nature

We dedicate this book to our ancestors who were sold into slavery, stolen from our homeland on the continent of Africa, survived or died during the middle passage, enslaved for hundreds of years, and yet had the spiritual capacity and fortitude to maintain family in the midst of the MAAFA Great Disaster. We give thanks to God for you, we are because you were, we honor your sacrifice, and we will continue to thrive and illuminate your brilliant light, until we meet on the other side. For our children and the generations of our children, yet to come
Always know that to Be African is An Absolute Gift!
