Anthony Bottoms is Emeritus Wolfson Professor of Criminology at the University of Cambridge, Life Fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and Honorary Professor of Criminology at the University of Sheffield. He is also a Fellow of the British Academy. His most recent empirical research (with Joanna Shapland) is a study of steps towards desistance in a sample of young adult recidivists. Other research interests lie mainly in the fields of theoretical criminology, criminal justice policy and socio-spatial criminology. In 2007, he received the European Criminology Award from the European Society of Criminology for lifetime contributions to criminology.
Andrew Costello is Lecturer in Criminology in the Centre for Criminological Research at the University of Sheffield. His principal research interests lie in the fields of crime analysis and socio-spatial criminology, and he has published on topics such as the localism of crime, repeat victimisation and crime in urban villages. He is the General Editor of the book series Environment, Space and Criminology published by Ashgate Publishing.
Peter Dunn is Director of The Griffins Society. Formerly Victim Supports Head of Research and Development, Peter has written widely about crime victims and victim services, and he has been a frequent conference speaker about these issues. He is also a part-time PhD student at the London School of Economics where the subject of his doctoral research is gay mens experiences of hate crime and its policing.
Edna Erez is Professor and Head of the Department of Criminology, Law and Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has published widely on victims in the criminal justice system, violence against women including immigrant women, and women in terrorism. Her current National Institute of Justice-funded research, with UIC colleagues, includes the use of GPS tracking technology to protect battered women, and a study of Jihad on the internet.
