Dedication
To the most wonderful dog a girl could have. Thank you for being there and growing up with me. You were there through so many life-changing moments and I cant believe you wont be there for the rest. Thank you for all the good times, the unconditional love, and the abundance of wiggles.
Rest easy, sweet girl.
Riggs
Y ou sure this is a good idea, Bro?
Cade glared over at me but didnt move from where he was leaning up against the wall of the back alley. We need to know whats going on. What Rat found
What Rat found tells me what Ive been thinking this whole time was right, I said, interrupting him. Cade was the president of the MC, but wed been friends for most of our lives. I always had his back and he knew that. Hed made me his VP for a reason, though, and that was because I gave it to him straight.
And whats that? he asked in an angry tone. He knew what I was about to say. Id say it anyway.
We shouldnt be fucking around with cops.
Flynns helped us out on more than one occasion, he replied, watching the opening to the alley. His face had smoothed back out into a calm mask.
Only after she forced herself into those situations. We couldve handled shit ourselves. Now were mixed up in who the fuck knows what.
Thats what were about to find out, Cade said, straightening up as a black SUV parked outside the alleyway behind Lock, Stock, and Barrel. It was early morning, long before any of the bars customers would be here wanting to drink away their troubles. We hadnt wanted to take a chance of being spotted. There was no way to tell who the Syndicate had spying for them.
A tingle of awareness made the hair on the back of my neck lift. I hated that paranoid feeling of being watched. It made my trigger finger itchy.
Hissing out an aggravated breath, I waited alongside my president as the FBI Agent approached. Cade knew I didnt agree or approve of bringing her into club business, but shed firmly wedged herself in whether wed liked it or not. Cade had finally just made the call to use her when it was convenient to us since shed been hanging around anyway.
After a few months of coming for our club, shed suddenly done a one-eighty and began helping us and had stopped actively trying to take us down. We hadnt known why. Now we were pretty sure of the reason.
Flynn walked toward us, her heels making clicking sounds that echoed around the alley. She was in a black suit that hugged her curves, blonde hair piled up on top of her head. There were timeslike nowthat she looked like Bridgets identical twin. Other times it was almost like they werent related.
You sure know how to show a girl a good time, Cade, she called out as she walked up. The disgust was clear on her face as she sidestepped some junk on the ground.
Needed somewhere we could talk, Cade replied.
You couldve come to my office, she said with a curl of her lip as she stopped next to us and eyed the dumpster. It was pungent back here. We did our best to keep it clean since the bar was Cades businessand therefore the clubsbut there was no dictating trash pickup.
Cade and I exchanged a scornful look before he spoke. Not with what we just found out.
One of Flynns blonde brows rose and she rested her hands on her hips, in a typical cop pose. And what do you think youve found out?
Lady, I wouldnt be getting pissy with us. Thats our right since were the ones youve kept in the dark for months, I growled at her.
Oh? Now she looked interested. Wed told her to leave Zaneher temporary partnerat the office, but I saw him sitting in the passenger seat of the SUV. Flynn was smart. We werent allies and there was a very thin line of respect that kept us civil. At this point she knew enough about our club to know we would do whatever was necessary to protect our own, and she wasnt one of ours.
You need to tell me what the fuck is going on, Cade said in a dangerous tone. When Flynn opened her mouth he cut her off. Murphey, enough of the bullshit. We know everything.
Flynns brows furrowed together. Everything? I doubt it. I guess Im going to need to know what you think you know before- She broke off when Cade lunged forward and pinned her against the wall, one hand wrapped around her throat.
Everything went silent for a few heartbeats before I heard her partners footsteps running up the alley. Unholstering my gun, I aimed it at him, while still keeping an eye on my friend. Keep coming and youll end up with holes in your chest, I told Zane in a cheerful tone.
It didnt bother me that the detective had his gun drawn on me in return. My interest was more in the two beside me. There was a fuck ton of tension between Cade and the Fed. Had been since the beginning when shed shown up crowing that she was going to take us down.
You fighting or you fucking? I asked Cade with a smirk.
Flynns lips twisted up into a grin. Thats what I was wondering? She slipped an arm out from between their bodies and motioned to Zane. He holstered his firearm, though he continued to glare at me and Cade.
Flynn arched her back and rubbed herself against Cade. Which is it, big boy?
I snorted out a laugh and ignored the black look Cade shot at me. Id die before admitting it, but the cop cracked me up. She liked to push all of Cades buttons and I was sure she wanted his cock. Every time I brought it up my friend snarled at me and walked off. He was like a grizzly with a thorn in his paw when it came to her. That was the main reason he hadnt told her to pound sand and detached our club from her. Not that hed ever admit it to anyone. Whether he said it out loud or not, I knew Cade was hopelessly hooked on her. Neither had done anything about itas far as I knewbecause the idea of a one-percenter MC president with an FBI Agent was beyond ridiculous. It would never work.
Cade glared down at Flynn. One of our guys found information that Dario left.
Zane made a sound deep in his throat. I put my gun away and pulled out a disk that Bass had asked me to give to Zane. None of us had believed he wouldnt be at this meeting. Handing it over, I nodded in acceptance when he muttered a low, Thanks.
Flynn narrowed her eyes. What do you mean you found information? Zane?
The detective shrugged. Dario never mentioned anything to me. I assume it has to do with our...case, though. His gaze flicked from her to us, then back.
Flynn snarled low under her breath. Let me go, Cade. Ill tell you what you want to know. It seemed she was done with the act.
He stepped back and Zane moved in next to Flynn. We were facing off in the alley.
You know all about my father getting mixed up with Miguel Guzman, she started.
We nodded. That was buried and put away. I wasnt sure why she was bringing it up, but I stayed quiet as she continued.
