Foreword
We shall not cease from exploration,
And the end of all our exploring,
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

What is Life?
Yes/No seriously, I do indeed mean to ask that question! Surely, every one of us asks that question at some stage in our lives, some of us often. In some, as in me, it is insistent, driving every aspect of life day after day, moment by moment, affecting every choice, decision, and conversation. It is the force that impels me to serve and to explore, to heal and to be healed. At times, its impact exquisitely delicious, bringing an appreciation of intimate relatedness, of Oneness with all life, whether or not in relationship. At others, its impact an excruciating, searing pain, an incessant pointed and agonising pressure relentlessly impinging on every waking moment, and even, it seems, in sleep and dreams.
In the trajectory that is my life, this question has never left me and the more I live, the more I experience, the deeper I go, living, loving, exploring, with ever more gratitude, the more remarkable is what emerges the more beautiful, the more awe-inspiring, the more miraculous, no matter how challenging is the question and what it gives rise to. Right now, and for the foreseeable future, Nancy Canning, the author of this book, is part and parcel of that question certainly in this lifetime and who knows, may be in many others too.
I am fortunate beyond words to have been introduced to Nancy and in coming to know her personally and professionally, to trust her as I do, even though we have not yet met in person. I have gained immeasurably, as have countless other people as a result, most of those having no idea the sources that have contributed to the gifts being manifested and shared.
It is interesting how these things happen. A simple introduction to Nancy with the gift of a session with her on Skype, came through a much respected colleague and friend, Dr. Jenny Remington-Hobbs. In no way could I have known what that introduction would lead to for us all. This book is, in part, a result, as you will discover, and I am humbled to have played even a small part in the odyssey that has been Nancys life. This is a book that will, without a shadow of doubt, assist those searching for meaning, searching to understand, to find more of that ever elusive and ever changing answer to the ever present niggle inside that there is more to know , to become, that there is ever more to find, to embrace, to encompass, to understand and to experience about this extraordinary life that each one of us has, AND ESPECIALLY SO when things are really, really tough, emotionally harrowing and nothing seems to make sense.
I am a Physician, Scientist, Healer, Husband, Father, Lover, Friend, a Human being on The Way. In my work, what I love to do is to go behind the symptoms, underneath them, deep inside the being of my clients to discover what their life force is seeking to express and communicate to and for them and everyone else. And I do this so that people might experience, even if only for a moment, the Divine Magnificence of Life itself, however it is expressing itself through them at any given moment. The content of this book has helped me profoundly as it has others. Working with Nancy one-on-one on Skype is a deeply privileged experience, for Nancys work is an expression of her relentless search for authenticity, integrity and understanding. This book is a part of the incredible service she has done and will go on to do for millions of people world-wide.
Your Lifes Calling is beautifully written in a way that can only happen when the author really knows her stuff, when the author is writing from the heart, an open heart that has suffered the path to discovery and enlightenment, through years of committed professional and personal experience, and has decided to expand and Love instead of becoming bitter and diminishing in stature. Dip in to this book or read it cover to cover do whatever you are drawn to do. Bring to it whatever question you have about what things mean in your life. Bring to it your pains, your sufferings, your questions, all of them the products of your uncontrolled mind and emotions, and work with it, starting wherever you wish. Very few will put the book down without having gained something.
