What Readers Are Saying
Thank you for writing this manual for life I basically use it as a bible - photo 1
Thank you for writing this manual for life. I basically use it as a bible.
Kaleigh, Toronto, Canada
Im twenty-six and from the UK. In 2015 I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression. I was rushed to the hospital from panic attacks caused by stress and the same year I was told that I had skin cancer and needed an operation to cut it out, all this coupled with the stress of daily living just got too much for me to handle. It affected my relationship, my home life, my work life, and, to be honest, everything that I touched. I started drinking and smoking to help ease the stresses, I went to numerous CBT classes and therapy sessions, but nothing was working.
I decided one day to take matters into my own hands before I lost control. I stopped the medication the doctors put me on for my depression, I stopped going to the classes, and I looked for ways to help myself. This is how I came across your book. Its taken me eight months to finish the book but thats because I took the leap, I took the challenge, and I stuck to the tasks you so kindly set out. Dont get me wrongIm far from fixed; however, since turning the first page in 2016 Ive never looked back. At times it was hard and a struggle to even open the book as I was always so negative toward anything in my life. But I kept finding myself drawn back to it. Your book and story has guided me through some pretty dark times, and for that I cant thank you enough. Since reading your book I have managed to stop smoking completely, I now drink one to two drinks only when out at social events, and this year I am starting my journey of fitnessboth body and mind. With each chapter it just felt like you understood, and that it was okay to have bad or off days as long as I kept moving forward. I would confidently say that my depression has disappeared. The anxiety still rears its ugly head now and again but from reading your book I am able to understand it more and shift my focus onto a more positive path.
I know that there is still plenty more work to be done and every day teaches us something new, and because of you I now find that exciting instead of worrying what tomorrow will bring. You ought to know that you have helped me in ways that I cannot thank you enough for.
Jonathan, Cheshire, England
Thank you for being you. Ive just finished your book and Im crying with joy because Im on a journey after separating from a man I continue to love. Reading the final chapters in your book has urged me to stay positive and to continue to visualize, meditate every day, and stay focused on my thoughts and actions. Im soul-searching and have decided to change my career and travel because I need to breathe fresh air. People think I am trying to escape but I want to experience something different and put something back into my community. Thank you for the amazing book once again, and Im looking forward to my adventure.
Lorna, London, England
I wanted to tell you your book has helped me out so much in life. Ive gone through some traumatic experiences and until recently, via reading your book and a lot of self-discovery, had never made the connection with how my actions, thoughts, and emotions all shape my life. If Im not paying attention to these Im also not paying attention to myself and my dreams. Ive been stuck in a job I dislike for far too long and am currently taking steps toward working for my dream company. I study and practice the ideas you speak of in your book daily and have been making it a priority, and my life is changing for the better every day! The work is so hard, but so fulfilling, and I know the payoff will be extraordinary. When I have tough days I always turn back to your book and your words to put me right back on track.
Haley, Sydney, Australia
I just wanted to share the difference you have made in my life. Im a twenty-six-year-old woman from Sydney, and I must say I have settled so much in my life, especially my career! Just like you, I felt so lost and took it out on drugs and alcohol EVERY week. It just wasnt healthy anymore and I was in a very dark place. I almost lost my relationship because of this.
Anyways, I worked for my previous employer for the last three years with my colleagues, working my nine-to-five (sometimes even longer) butt off and getting paid peanuts. My boss chucked so many unnecessary tasks at me. I felt obliged to do these things, and my boss felt as though I had to prove my self-worth to the company. It was honestly the most toxic working environment. Everyone was backstabbing and bitching about each other. But all I could think about is that I needed this job to support my family.
After reading your book and doing much self-reflection and self-appreciation, Ive come to realize my self-worth. Now, I am happily working for a bigger company that gives me such genuine support and flexibility and not the typical nine-to-five job. I am happily traveling interstate and soon will be overseas (just as Ive always dreamed of). During this transition, I was reading your book. So just wanted to thank you for all your help.
Andrea, New South Wales, Australia
Thank you so much for putting this masterpiece together, and sharing your personal experiences with me, and for all of the insight. I just finished high school this year, and I am waiting to start college next year, so this current period of my life has been vital. That is why I am so glad I came across your book when I did. I now look at things that I used to do, and I wonder why I ever had certain thoughts or let certain things bother me.
Your book has been key to my emotional growth as well as my financial growth. In Step 3 there is a task that challenged us to take action on something to get the ball rolling. The task I chose to do was creating my business cards and my business email. Since then, I now have eight clients, which just blows my mind. So thank you so much for the push because since then I have progressed quite a bit, and I dont plan on slowing down.
