I had the privilege of editing this book, The Parables of Jesus Made Simple: Updated and Expanded Edition, for Matthew. In it, he clearly and simply outlines each parable. While he offers one explanation for each one, he suggests other options and leaves the door open for the reader to draw his or her own conclusions.
The straightforward explanations provide practical wisdom for the reader so that he or she can walk knows how the parable personally relates to each individual. Just some of the insights include proper stewardship of your gifts, forgiving others, preparing for the hereafter, serving others, how to treat the homeless and much more. Matthews wise counsel, if applied, will serve to bring you into a deeper relationship with Christ.
In summary, this book brings encouragement and life to the reader. After all, these are the words of Jesus! Enjoy the ride, and apply the advice within for a stronger Christian life so that you can walk in greater maturity.

Lisa
This book was originally written in 2010, and when my mother edited it, she included some of her own personal doctrines and beliefs. In this edition, Ive removed some of her additional comments. I also hired a less-than-suitable editor for the original book, and a lot of people complained about the quality of the editing.
It has taken me quite a few years to make changes to the original book. I made some major changes in the main text and then added a small update to each chapter.
I feel that a strong understanding of the parables of Jesus is integral to a solid relationship with Jesus and the successful Christian life. Many people have no idea what the parables mean and how they should impact our lives. I have done my best to explain the meaning of each one and how to apply them to life in the 21st century.
While I feel that I have been led by the Holy Spirit as I wrote this book and updated it, I humbly give this book to you for your consideration and your meditation, and I hope that you can glean some real help from it. It cost me a lot of money to republish this book, and I only did so because I was led by God in this endeavor. It is my prayer that you not only read this book but that you take it to heart and make changes in your life as a result.
Chapter 1
The Parable of The Alert Servant
Mark 13:33-37
Mark 13:33-37 reads:
Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going out to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is comingin the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping, and what I say to you, I say to you all: Watch.
Jesus shared the signs of the end times with his followers. He said that false Christs and false prophets would arise who would try to deceive people. Terrible tribulation will ensue; the stars of heaven will fall, and other devastating events will occur.
While reading or listening to these parables, I hope that you fully understand who the Lord Jesus Christ really is and what is truly going on. Jesus often used parables in his teaching with the topic of his leaving and returning as a recurring theme.
I have heard many recent accounts of people who have met either Jesus or the Father in heaven, and they were told that the end time is very near, for Jesus is coming back very soon. Some of these people had visions, and others experienced near-death encounters where they were aware of leaving their physical body for a short time and then suddenly, found themselves back in familiar territory.
