I want to dedicate this book to the Holy Spirit who leads me, encourages me, and helps me in all that I do. He is an unknown and unrecognized hero in Christian circles. He puts himself last and doesnt promote himself but gives me the power to overcome sin and do all that I do.
He is the power source in this verse.
Ephesians 3:20 - Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Father God
I want to thank you for loving me, for leading me, and for making me into the person that I am today. I thank you for loving me through all the years of my addictions. Thank you for your Son, my best friend. Thank you for your Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
Thank you for being my friend for all of my life. I cannot thank you enough for all that you do for me. I live to serve you and do everything that you call me to do. I cannot imagine life without you. Thank you for loving me through all the years until I was set free. I thank you and the Holy Spirit each day for guiding me.

Wow. I have just finished the first round of edits for Gaining Freedom from Sex Addictions: Breaking Free of Pornography and Prostitutes, and I am very impressed! Matthew handles an extremely difficult subject with grace and tact, yet he confronts the issues that men and women face head on.
With his typical style of candor and honesty, Matthew relays how he gained freedom from addictions of thirty-six years to pornography and twenty-five years to prostitutes. His message of hope for all reverberates throughout the pages of this book.
This book does not offer easy solutions or a specific formula. Instead, Matthew provides the reader with step-by-step actions to take in order to secure freedom. The most foundational and strategic of these is reframing your mindset and understanding your identity in Christ. Once you see yourself as Christ sees you, you will then be able to move forward into the freedom Christ has for you.
I believe that this powerful manuscript will bring freedom to many. If you or a loved one has struggled with sexual addictions, be encouraged! I am declaring hope to you as you read these pages, and I am believing that you will find true and lasting victory in Jesus.
Please feel free to contact me at if you have any questions about editing.
Blessings,
Lisa
Table of Contents
Ephesians 2:8-10 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 3:20 - Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Unfortunately, when I was growing up, my father had with an angry disposition, and I was somewhat afraid of him. My older brother dealt with a little bit of sibling rivalry, and he used to hit me and pick on me. My mother told me that she couldnt leave him alone in a room with me because he was so violent toward me.
I had a temperamental and sad start to life. At eight years of age, my cat died. I had mourned the cat for six months when a child evangelist came to my town. The evangelist said that we could have a friend named Jesus who would never leave us or forsake us. Since I really missed my cat that was my friend and I lost him, I accepted Jesus into my life. From that day on, I was saved, like the above verse says. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
Getting free of pornography or prostitution is done by faith and is a gift of God. You cant do it by works; you cant do it by striving. At eight years of age, I was saved. At fourteen years of age, I was molested on the beach by a homosexual/pedophile. I then began a life of having sexual encounters with men on a nudist beach.
At the age of fourteen, I had my first orgasm. I then learned to be aroused by naked women on a nudist beach. I started to buy pornography and became addicted to it at this age. At the same time, I struggled with singing in church, and I couldnt praise Jesus because I was feeling so guilty for my involvement with porn and for being with men on the beach whenever I went to surf.
At the age of eighteen, I moved away from my town in the country and into the city. I slept with a street-walking prostitute who took me to her room upstairs. I soon learned that you could hire more expensive prostitutes and hire expensive women called escorts. You could call their agency and have them come to your house. Seeing escorts costs a lot of money, and I stayed perpetually broke. For twenty-five years while I was addicted to prostitutes, I never bought a house and had little financial stability. Proverbs 29:3b says,... a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth (ESV). Satan really steals from you however he can.
In the midst of my sinful life, God has still been able to use me to prophesy 20,000 times and to write twenty-eight books. This is despite the fact that I failed English in high school. Ephesians 3:20 says, Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
