I thought I was the only one.
As a sixteen-year-old girl, a combination of curiosity and hormones was the catalyst to me typing in three little letters on my familys computer that would forever change my life. S - E - X.
I pressed enter and the images, videos, and chat rooms took full control over the pixels on the computer screen and eventually, my life.
I was hurting from an emotionally absent father, moving hundreds of miles away from my best friends, and an abusive relationship with a youth pastor ten years my senior. Internet pornography became medicine for the empty feelings of worthlessness that so often haunted me in my late teens.
I moved out when I was seventeen, and my habit of looking at porn online only escalated. Soon, Id be calling sex phone lines. And then Id watch videos with friends. Everything I saw showed me that to be loved you needed to give sex. To be considered beautiful, you had to be naked. My online habits turned offline and I began meeting with random men and becoming physically involved with them. To this date, I couldnt tell you any of their names or anything about them.
