Now that I think back, there was never a time when I really didnt believe in angels. Certainly I went through phases of my adult life when I wondered if mine had gone on strike, or abandoned me, but deep inside I always knew the amazing truth, which was forever trembling to break free. Even when I was a small child I had an inner knowledge (as all children do), that I rubbed shoulders with these beings every day of my life, and that this seemed quite natural and not extraordinary in any way. It was only as I grew up and struggled (as all children do) to fit in with society and its latest fashionable belief or non-belief that I came to see a connection with angels as some mystical, unattainable, imaginary dream, and one that only the foolish among us admitted to. The middle time of our spiritual growth that most of us have to endure is so sad. But with me, as it is for everyone, even if only in the final second of life, there came a time at last when a blinding flash burst forth and revealed that losing my childlike faith was what had made me foolish!

Now when I look back and visualize a map of my life, I can see when and where angels stepped in to help me, guide me, save me and bring me to my full potential, even if I gave them no credit for it at the time. Such is the way of angels: they never go on strike, no matter how frustrating our behaviour is; they never abandon us and they believe in us even if we stop believing in them for a while.

My real awakening came at the age of 45, when angels came to me at my darkest moment and showed me the truth of who I really was, what my history had been and how to walk forward with an unshakeable faith in them that has not been, and will never be, broken.

Since then, in the angel-led second half of my life, I have been immersed in angels: hosting a TV show, guesting on TV and radio, writing songs and books, learning to be guided to paint angels digitally and altogether having a wonderful time. Through this I have met, interviewed and written about hundreds of people who have been helped by angels, had their moment of unquestionable truth and never doubted the angels presence again. In this book I have brought together some of their emotionally charged and indisputably angelic stories to share with you.

People often ask me if angels always help you when you ask them. And yes, the answer is always unequivocally that they do help us. Because angels always give you what you need. The problem we have as humans is that what we need is not always the same as what we want. I know that might sound clichd, but this doesnt mean it isnt true. Many times in my life Ive wanted something desperately and its not been granted. Like most people Id become transfixed with the story I thought should happen, and didnt think about what other outcomes there could be.

Humans tend to want to travel straight from A to B in the shortest time possible and Im no different. Its only after we face the disappointment of things not happening as we expected them to, and yet find that weve still reached the other side of the rainbow, that we look back and see how much wiser than us angels are and how their apparent roundabout and tedious route has taken us to exactly where we wanted to go, but in such a non-linear way that we barely noticed it happening. We also often realize then that the way we had hoped things would happen would have been a big mistake if they had unfolded that way.

The following stories show both answered prayers and prayers that were apparently not answered. I am really grateful for these contributors sharing their personal stories with me, in order to help other people find the peace they long for.

One story in this chapter is about a lost lilo. Now it may seem that a lost lilo is a pretty trivial thing for an angel to help out with. In fact, I even had someone criticize me for telling people to ask their angels for help with things such as finding lost handbags, saying that angel energy surely shouldnt be wasted on something so meaningless. But in cases like this, it isnt so much the act, but the sign. The person who sent this story was in the right frame of energy at the time and her angel saw a good opportunity to prove their existence to her. That is why I will continue to tell people to start by asking their angel for help with small requests, and a lost lilo fits perfectly under that heading.
