Colin Griffith MCH, HMA is a highly respected and effective practitioner of homoeopathy. He studied at the College of Homoeopathy and, instead of writing a thesis, he set up a supervised drop-in clinic which continued for 11 years and became a teaching clinic where students under his supervision set up their own tables. He has always preferred to work in multi-disciplinary practice where other complementary therapies are offered: cranial osteopathy, reflexology, counselling, etc. He is a founder member of the Guild of Homoeopaths and lectures regularly at the Centre for Homoeopathic Education, Regents College, London and has lectured in America, Canada, Japan and Greece. He is the author of the highly regarded The Companion to Homoeopathy, The Practical Handbook of Homoeopathy and The New Materia Medica Volume I.

CONTENTS
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This second volume of new materia medica carries another 36 homoeopathic remedies proved through meditative practice. The protocol for the provings remained the same as for those in Volume I where a full description of it is to be found. The period of time during which the provings took place covered more than 15 years; in that time changes occurred among the participants of the circle. What has never changed is the quiet and unassuming presence of Janice Micallef who has led the meditations from the very beginning. Without her guidance and inspiration few of these remedies would have seen the light of day. The responsibility for the participants and the caring she has always shown us is humbling. Overseeing the well-being of each member of the circle of up to 10 people while guiding a 3-hour meditation and receiving information herself is draining work yet she has always maintained the same composure and gentle sense of humour throughout. We are all in her debt and can only wonder at how she also manages to run a practice that cares for over 250 families.
It is also important to mention Janices contribution to the understanding of radiation remedies. Before she became a homoeopath she was a radiographer. Indeed, it was partly this profession that brought her into homoeopathy as her occupation contributed considerably to the reasons for seeking alternative medicine. She went to study at the College of Homoeopathy and became one of Martin Miless patients. He found that no indicated remedies helped until Radium Bromide, repeated and given intercurrently over some two years, lifted the acquired radiation miasm. With this background Janice has had a unique insight into the effects of the miasm and patients reactions within it. Hence her cases on Plutonium, MRPG3 and Japanese White Oleander are particularly valuable.
One of the original members of the circle is Jill Wright. She has been our indefatigable shorthand scribe for the 20 years these meditations have been running. She has been responsible for writing down verbatim reports to ensure that no information would be lost if the recording machinery broke down. To have typed up the notes for distribution must have taken quite literally hundreds of hours of out-of-clinic time. Without her undertaking this enormous task none of us would have been able to remember what had transpired during the meditations. The circle also has to thank her for hosting the most recent meditations in her home which provides such a tranquil setting. Personally I would like to thank her for her prompt and patient attention to my emails asking for yet more information that I have either lost or forgotten.
The present members of the circle are Jill Wright, Sylvia Treacher, Anita Garlick, Colin Griffith, Carole Baldie, Jennifer Maughan, Jerome Whitney, Maggie Gravells, Sue Baker, Lesley Suter, James Peel, Maureen Rose and Grahame Martin. Nick Griffith and Lisa and Edo Cossey have also been members of the circle when exigencies of family and study have allowed. The late Martin Miles was a regular member until his death in 2008 since when he has been very much missed. This has been the group that has proved the following remedies: Sodium bicarbonate, Blackberry, Clear Quartz, Cardamom, Himalayan Crystal Salt, Hyacinthoides Non-scripta, Ivy Berry, Japanese White Oleander, Statice, Pomegranate, Rutilated Smoky Quartz, Turmeric and Viscum Album. Apart from Aquamarine, Dolphin Sonar, Rosebay Willowherb and Senecio + Tyria which were proved by some of the above members with students at the Guild study weeks in Duncton Mill and Paros, Greece, the rest of the remedies were proved by the original circles.
In providing case studies to illustrate cases no one has been more assiduous and generous with time than Janice Micallef. She has spent hours talking me through her extraordinary cases. Jan Lewis, Helen Johnson and Linda Rogerson Heath have also been a tremendous support in their willingness to share their knowledge of the remedies. They spent their minimal spare time in collating the information and writing up cases. Sue Baker, Lesley Suter and Jan Taylor have all given their own personal experiences of the effects of the remedies in addition to their case histories. This is invaluable to a thorough understanding of the remedies. I cannot thank all these good friends enough. Carol Burroughs and Chris Braithwaite have not only provided their insights into the remedies but have positively bubbled with their infectious enthusiasm about using the new remedies in their practices.
Two people merit much more than thanks for the remedy made from the sounds that dolphins make: Maxine Harrison and Nick Sellick. When first I asked Maxine to obtain the remedy I had no real idea quite what would be involved. Though she was going to the Bahamas anyway, it was still a difficult task that also took in organization on an almost military scale, shepherding client-crew, skirting hurricanes and taking turns as cook and bottle washer. It took patience, speed, swimming skills, a deep pair of lungs and the ability to suspend scepticism that she was doing such a thing. Our good friend, Nick, an unwitting but enthusiastic prover of the remedy, made it possible through his enormous generosity and quiet but steely determination for us to find more dolphins to follow up on the first trip and then again on the second. All these expeditions were invaluable for getting first-hand knowledge of the behaviour and natural history of dolphins. Nicolas and Dragan Popov must be mentioned here too as they skippered with consummate seamanship the catamaran that took Maxine, Nick and the rest of us to the very place where Atlantic Spotted dolphins would be found. I believe that all four of these inveterate and intrepid travellers would be able to summon dolphins to them wherever they were in the world.
