About the Author
For two decades Shelley Kaehr, PhD, has worked with thousands of people around the world, helping them achieve greater peace and happiness in their lives.
Her past life regression process has been endorsed by Dr. Brian Weiss, who called her work an important contribution to the field of regression therapy.
A world traveler, Shelley believes the soul longs to return to places from prior incarnations. She coined the term Supretrovie to describe sudden recollections of prior lives while traveling, and she believes all people, whether they consciously remember it or not, have flashbacks from prior lives while going about their daily business.
Shelley received her PhD in parapsychic science from the American Institute of Holistic Theology in 2001. She is a certified clinical hypnotherapist and trainer, and lives near Dallas, Texas. She truly believes we all have the ability to make positive changes and live the life of our dreams.

Introduction
Our Past Life
Connections to Animals
Past Lives with Pets began with a conversation with friends when I explained how much I would love to come back in a future lifetime as my cat, BisKit. After overcoming humble beginnings at the local animal shelter, he quickly evolved into one of my great loves and now enjoys a life anyone would envy. I wait on him hand and foot, carry him around while constantly fussing over his food, making sure every little thing is exactly as His Majesty prefers. And heaven forbid I should stop brushing him before hes ready. In the case of that unfortunate event, he swipes at me until I resume my duties, and continues to do so until he deems my work complete and acceptable to his incredibly high standards. And heaven forbid I should ever dare walk by him with food he wants. He psychically tunes in and bursts straight out of his feline coma to swat my legs until I share.
In addition to his demanding nature, BisKit has several unusual behaviors, including a distinctive taste in music. He loves Vedic chanting from India and paradoxically avoids fish and tuna like the plague, insisting on a diet solely consisting of beef. He loves grazing on grasses and is so quiet I thought he was mute when I first got him. I eventually heard him meow in extreme distress at the sight of another cat in my yard. A man of very few words, he only speaks on occasion, making a gruff grunting that sounds more like a buffalo than a cat.
Before her death, his female predecessor, Goo, adored the Gregorian chanting music of the Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos and spent several hours intently watching the funeral of Pope John Paul II on television, not once taking her eyes from the ceremony, not even for a catnap. BisKit runs in the other direction if I play my monk music, acting like Ive personally offended him.
If you and I were to chat, Im sure youd tell me all sorts of weirdly bizarre but cute things your favorite pet likes and dislikes. Have you ever stopped to consider those idiosyncrasies may originate from past life behavior? Our pets are born with distinct personalities and tastes, even though such preferences could not have been influenced through what developmental human psychologists would call nature vs. nurture . Like people, animals often display strangely eccentric personalities.
For years Ive been joking about the fact (or I should say fact to me ) that my last two cats are people Ive definitely known in previous lifetimes, because any soul who inspires me to such single-minded devotion is absolutely someone Ive been around the block with a time or two before. Later in the book Ill reveal what I discovered about my past life connections to my two dear felines.
Im sure youve noticed that people are often willing to do more for their pets than they are for their own spouses, friends, family members, or even themselves. You may feel the same way about your own animals. Why is that? Its a question Ive wondered about. I had to ask myselfcould a past life connection be the actual root cause of this obsessive love? I say yes, absolutely!
In my private practice, dozens of clients shared their beliefs that they, too, knew their pets before in other lifetimes. Sometimes the memories of these lives floated into their consciousness automatically, and on other occasions, they emerged as part of longer sessions while dealing with other life issues. After doing past life regression for twenty years, I assure you my clients never ever come to see me because of an issue with their pet. Lets face it. Our pets are typically the one solid source of happiness in our lives.
