Until recently, the effortless Zone of peak performance was only within the reach of serious athletes. Now, with Body, Mind, and Sport, anyone can reach the Zone, regardless of fitness level.
Designed to accommodate a variety of individual fitness needs, the Body, Mind, and Sport program is split into two levels. Level 1 is for non-athletes who want to improve overall fitness; Level 2 is for those who want to train for competitive or recreational purposes. Your own unique mind-body type is taken into account to guide you in achieving your personal best without stress or strain. In this revised and updated edition of Body, Mind, and Sport, fitness expert and trainer John Douillard outlines a program in which your individual seasonal constitution-Winter, Spring, or Summer-determines what exercises or sports are best suited to your mind-body type and what foods you should eat for optimum results.
Using the Body, Mind, and Sport approach you can decrease...

PRAISE FOR JOHN DOUILLARD

Everyone is slowly trying to kill themselves to get better. Dr. Douillard really explains how less can be more.

Your practical training on Invincible Athletics principles attracted great attention from trainers, coaches, and listeners, and has received an excellent mark from all the participants.

A. Tsarik and Y. Belous,

Ive never used anabolic steroids. I know they have a destructive effect on the mind-body connection and give only the illusion of invincibility. Now, with Dr. Douillards course, youre offered an opportunity to experience true invincibility, the ability not to be destroyed: to be powerful and limitless.

Joanne Arnold,
Ms. Maine 1989,
Ms. Natural New England 1989

I was suffering injuries due to overtraining. Now, one year after training with Dr. Douillard, I can run in the zone for 17 miles or more at a pace of 6 minutes per mile with a heart rate of 115 beats per minute and a breath rate of 10 breaths per minute.

Warren Wechsler,
runner

When I remind the players to breathe through their noses, they look at me like Im crazy; but his breathing technique is one of the most important things Ive learned in my career.

Rich Dalatri
New Jersey Nets Strength and Conditioning Coach

I have two children under four, and my body has been transformed by only four months of this program. Even when Im fatigued before exercise, I feel clarified and energized and never tired afterward.

Sheila Ross,
homemaker

What I notice when I follow Dr. Douillards training is that I perform like you would not believe. Im totally in a blissful state. Im just running on air, and thats the way it should be every time.

Colleen Cannon,
1990 National Sprint Triathlon champion

Since I met Dr. Douillard and started practicing his techniques, I have found that I can accomplish just as much or more as I used to, but I dont get as tired and I have plenty of energy left when I have to compete.

Gigi Fernandez,
ranked #1 in Womens Professional Tennis Doubles

After I added just this simple program of Invincible Athletics, my body looks more youthful. My face looks younger.

Barbara Levinson,
aerobics instructor

Dr. Douillard has written a wonderfully clear, entertaining, and useful book for all athletes and exercisers. He logically outlines a method of exercise and diet that is comfortable, health promoting, and doable, and, best of all, leads to personal best performances.

FOREWORD
B ILLIE J EAN K ING

Dr. John Douillards teachings can change your life as they have mine and thousands of others of all ages. He makes it very clear we are all athletes.

Adults can start this program immediately, whether they are recreational, highly competitive, or professional athletes. This knowledge and practice can guide and support children to experience exercise at their speed as unique individuals who will prosper, grow, and learn integration of mind and body. Generally, working out has usually been a struggle, except during early childhood. Personally I have always had huge swings with my weight, of fifty to sixty pounds. What kept me going was my tennis career, my goals, and an insatiable desire to be the best I could be. But the process was difficult and on many occasions very stressful. I was taught that stress-recovery methods were the only way to excel. No pain, no gain, no more! Dr. John Douillards Body, Mind, and Sport information is on the cutting edge. It is based on the principles of Ayurveda, the Science of Life, which is thousands of years old. By adopting these principles my life is finally on track physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually; for our body and mind are one. Working out is no longer work but an entire, enjoyable, slow, steady building process of being connected, whole, and playful once again.

As Martina Navratilovas part-time coach (Craig Kardon is her full-time coach), I am pleased to see that she has thoroughly embraced the knowledge of Body, Mind, and Sport to enhance her already record-breaking career. We are both enjoying mind-body breathing techniques to maximize our respiratory efficiency, performing mind-body stretching exercises, implementing specific dietary recommendations and daily and seasonal routines all according to the needs of our individual and unique body types. Wherever you are in your journey toward health and fitness, reading
