ABOUT DAVID LAKE
D AVID LAKE is an ordained pastor and business owner, as well as marketplace minister. He is passionate about running his life, business, and ministry by hearing the voice of God. God has placed in his heart a burden to equip other business owners, pastors, churches, and Christians how to live their lives by seeking first the kingdom of God.
David has been in ministry since the early 90s, working with both youth and adults. He served as a youth pastor at Hosanna Christian Fellowship, led home fellowship groups, and has ministered in the mission field in several countries. He has traveled abroad with Men and Women of Action, doing building projects. David was also a pastor at Church at Community with Ed Delph. He currently pastors a seasonal church in Tonopah, Arizona, and continues traveling abroad ministering with Ed for NationStrategy. He has been married to Rhonda since 1984. They have four grown children and six grandchildren.
ABOUT DR. ED DELPH
D R. ED DELPH has been a pastor at three different churches since 1980 in the Phoenix, Arizona, area. He is a noted author of ten books, weekly columnist in several newspapers worldwide, teacher, business owner, and speaker having traveled to more than a hundred countries. He is currently president of a worldwide ministry, NationStrategy, a nonprofit organization involved in community and societal transformation. Ed earned his business degree from Arizona State University and his Doctorate of Ministry in Faith in Culture from Phoenix University of Theology in 2004.
D r. Ed Delph and David Lake have come up with something that is both timely and profound. Jesus said: It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4 NKJV). Notice that Jesus did not say, Christians shall not live by bread alone; He said man. The Word of God applies to all people and all areas of life. It is the hour when believers need to hear and speak the counsel of God into every sphere. There is a fresh Word proceeding out of Gods mouth to your earcan you hear it? Everything changes the moment you do.
I first learned about hearing God and distinguishing His inward voice, RHEMA, and His Word in Scripture, LOGOS, from Kenneth Hagin and Derek Prince. That was over twenty years ago. It makes sense that a fresh perspective would emerge in this strategic hour when so many conflicting ideas and opinions are being broadcast 24/7. Anyone with discernment can see that the collision of spiritual realms has heated up in a cosmic war of words. That is the reason I am excited about this bookRedefining Rhema.
The spirit of antichrist is described by Daniel as a little horn with a large and dangerous mouth: This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully (Daniel 7:8 NIV). The last days will be characterized by the clashing of swords in the mouths of messengers. In each sphere or realm in conflictpolitical, cultural, or religiousthe battle in the heavens will be fought through competing narratives and voices.
Nothing could be more important than the practice of hearing and speaking what the Lord is actually saying. In this unique book, Dr. Ed and David have combined forces and thus synergized their research and anointing to produce something fresh. Ed is undeniably a spokesman for releasing kingdom transformation in culture, while David brings a fresh prophetic edge to the message.
Redefining Rhema is a vital message because societal reformation can only be released to the degree that the church exits its own mountain and engages every other mountain of society. For kingdom transformation to take place on a cultural level, the church mountain needs to stop trying to replicate preachers to expand the church mountain and, instead, start sending men and women with the mind of Christ into the mountains of culture that are presently under the influence of false messages and demonized messengers. We need a few more anointed educators, school administrators, journalists, filmmakers, mayors, lawyers, and entrepreneurs and fewer Sunday sermon critics.
Words are being released into the earth; theres no doubt an army of unsuspecting Millennials are drinking it all in. Whats going to cut through the strategies of darkness? Laborers who wield the sword of the Lord in their respective mountains of influence. This sword is Gods RHEMA. I believe a defining hallmark of these laborers will be this: they will know how to hear and speak the utterance proceeding out of the mouth of God. Their words will stick fast in the minds and hearts of those who hear them. They will be Heavens apologists, and when the enemy tries to hem them in Jesus will show up through them: For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict (Luke 21:15 NIV).
So, I invite you to consider where you are right now. Consider your sphere of influence. Consider your present assignment. Celebrate it, because this is where God wants to designate you as a mouthpiece, a catalyst of transformation. Preachers have their place, but their calling is not superior to yours. In the same manner the preacher releases words that are Spirit and life (see John 6:63) from a pulpit, you will find your words just as powerful in the marketplace sanctuary where God has placed you. Ed Delph and David Lake have delivered a work that will position you to hear words from Heaven and release the transformation strategies of the kingdom into whatever sphere you are called to in this season.

The Five-Minute Miracle
Learning How to Trust
This book is dedicated to those who, since humankind began, have endeavored to know God by listening to or hearing from Him. Many who have come and gone prior to the writing of this book have aided the church in learning how to hear from the Lord. We celebrate their contribution. We have been inspired and influenced by their mentoring and writings about hearing God.
We stand among many others, adding to their contributions on this subject. If we see more than they did, it is only because of the perspective we received from sitting on their shoulders. We sincerely hope to build on their teachings, mixing our contribution with their contributions, equipping those who come after us to have a clearer understanding of hearing God.
Many coming after us will add to the contributions of this book. Our only desire is to bring those who want to know God by hearing Him into a fuller understanding of how to use both LOGOS (the written Word) and RHEMA (an utterance from God presently speaking) for the advancement of fulfilling the purposes of God for their generation.
If we were to dedicate this book to any one individual, it would be to Pastor Joshua Churchyard of Benoni, South Africa. For many years without fail, the first thing he says to us when we see him is, What is the Lord saying to you?

PRAISE FORRedefiningRHEMA
I am excited to endorse Redefining Rhema by David Lake and Ed Delph. This is an important teaching on the concept of RHEMA and how it is to be used in the life of a believer. I have been teaching on the relationship between RHEMA and faith for some time and appreciate the insights of this book. It goes beyond how to receive RHEMA to the why of RHEMA. It then goes on to address practical applications and the significance of these applications for the time in which we live. This book is needed to bring a better balance to the teaching about RHEMA, and RHEMAS relationship to LOGOS. Thank you, David and Ed, for this most needed contribution.
