W HILE READING EVENINGS With the Holy Spirit, I found myself truly enjoying the daily opportunity to come away with the Holy Spirit and hear Him speak. Each evening there is a fresh word from the Lord, reminding us of our privilege and need to lean back into His presence and listen. The Scripture readings that back up the word for the evening serve also as a delightful discipline for those with a busy life to pause and meditate on the beauty and power of the Word of God.

As the church is being awakened, more and more I sense the Holy Spirit urging us to train and equip believers to anchor themselves in His Word. Too many read only familiar and favorite passages and miss out on the fullness of what the Lord has to say. The daily readings in this devotional help make sure the reader is having a varied scriptural diet. Taking these words and processing them is an important aspect of our daily walk with the Lord.

Recently I have felt the Lord reminding me to not despise prophecy (1 Thess. 5:20). We can do that so easily without realizing what we are doing. In an age of so much information and revelation, we can fail to actually allow the Word of God to penetrate past our heads and into our hearts.

Jennifer has provided a beautiful platform here for people to hear the word of the Lord, and my encouragement would be for you to meditate on the readings for a few minutes and allow the words to sink deep into your heart. Think about how the word for the evening can be applied in your life. In doing this, we are stewarding well what the Lord is giving.

Taking a little time to chew over what we have read before rushing on to the next thought or distraction is a discipline that will allow the Word to not just be knowledge that puffs up, but revelation that becomes part of our identity. As we digest it, it becomes part of us, and as we do that, more revelation will come. As the Scripture says, to him who has, more will be given!

It is my prayer that you will enjoy your evenings with the Holy Spirit. I know that He will most certainly enjoy His time with you.
