Avery Cardinal Dulles, S. J.
Cardinal Dulles is the Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society at Fordham University, a position he has held since 1988. Cardinal Dulles served on the faculty of The Catholic University of America from 1974 to 1988. He has been a visiting professor at numerous institutions, including The Gregorian University (Rome), Campion Hall (Oxford University), the University of Notre Dame, the Catholic University at Leuven, and Yale University. The author of over 750 articles on theological topics, Cardinal Dulles has published twenty-two books including: Models of the Church (1974), The Craft of Theology: From Symbol to System (1992), The Assurance of Things Hoped For: A Theology of Christian Faith (1994), The Splendor of Faith: The Theological Vision of Pope John Paul II (1999; revised in 2003 for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the papal election), and The History of Apologetics (1971; rev. ed., 2005). The fiftieth anniversary edition of his book, A Testimonial to Grace , the account of his conversion to Catholicism, was published in 1996, with a new afterword. Past president of both the Catholic Theological Society of America and the American Theological Society, Cardinal Dulles has also served on the International Theological Commission. He was created a Cardinal of the Catholic Church in Rome on February 21, 2001 by Pope John Paul II, the first American-born theologian who is not a bishop to receive this honor.
Mary Healy
Mary Healy is adjunct professor of Scripture at the Institute for Pastoral Theology at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida, and at the Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College in Alexandria, Virginia. She earned a doctorate in biblical theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. She is the author of Men and Women Are from Eden: A Study Guide to John Paul II's Theology of the Body (Servant Books, 2005), and co-editor of Behind the Text: History and Biblical Interpretation (Zondervan, 2003) and Out of Egypt: Biblical Theology and Biblical Interpretation (Zondervan, 2004).
John C. Cavadini
John Cavadini is the chair of the theology department at the University of Notre Dame and director of the university's Institute for Church Life. He is a scholar of patristic and early medieval theology, with special interests in the theology of Augustine and in the history of biblical exegesis. He is the author of two books, Miracles in Christian and Jewish Antiquity: Imagining the Truth (University of Notre Dame, 1999); and The Last Christology of the West: Adoptionism in Spain and Gaul , 785820, (University of Pennsylvania, 1993). He is the editor of Gregory the Great: A Symposium (University of Notre Dame, 1996), and associate editor of Augustine Through the Ages: An Encyclopedia (Eerdmans, 1999). His articles have appeared in such journals as Theological Studies , Religious Studies Review , Traditio , Augustinian Studies , and American Benedictine Review .
