Introduction
The Year of the Great Disclosure?
in the year 2021, the government of the United States

has radically reversed its public stance on the reality ofUnidentified Flying Objects or UFOs (now called Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) from a position of debunking or dismissal, dating from the initial reportage on thesupposed crash of an alien spacecraft in Roswell, NewMexico in 1947 (which was accepted as real by the U.S.military and then debunked by them a few days later), toone of official acceptance not only of the inexplicable reality of the phenomenon but of its serious relevance tonational security.

Anyone familiar with the subject, however, will be awarethat this disclosure has actually taken place in successivestages and over a long period of time, with several nationalgovernments, including those of France and Mexico, having released their UFO files in recent years, as if toslowly prepare the peoples of the world for a full revelationof the shocking truth. To take only one example, General Douglas MacArthur, in a speech to the cadets at WestPoint on May 12, 1962, said the following:

We deal now, not with the things of this world alone, butwith the illimitable distances and as yet unfathomed mys

teries of the universe... of ultimate conflict between aunited human race and the sinister forces of some other planetary galaxy; of such dreams and fantasies as to make lifethe most exciting of all times. And through all this welterof change and development your mission remains fixed, determined, inviolable. It is to win our wars.

As a contemporary example of the same kind of thinking, consider Harvard physicist Avi Loebs proposal inHow to Avoid a Cosmic Catastrophe, an op-ed in theScientific American (May 23, 2021) written from the standpoint of what has come to be called Exopolitics (seeParts II and III, below). According to Loeb, if an extraterrestrial civilization were to develop a Planck collider ofsufficient size, it could generate a high-energy detonationwave or domain wall that would burn through the galaxy at the speed of light, destroying everything in its path. The only way to prevent this cosmic catastrophe, saysLoeb, would be for earth to sign an interstellar treaty withall galactic civilizations capable of creating such a collider, presumably as a pledge not to build it or use itsomething on the order of the nuclear test ban treaty of 1963.

Here once again, as with General MacArthur, we havethe use of fear to posit the existence of one or more alienraces, none of whom has yet been discovered, much lesscontacted, as well as of a united human race capable ofconcluding such a treaty as Dr. Loeb proposes. This is asterling example of the virtual erasure in our time of theline between science and science-fiction, as well as of thesituation described by mathematician and philosopher ofscience Wolfgang Smith when he wrote that physics haslost its mind.

Wild speculation based on near-zero evidence, especiallywhen an ill-defined world of science is invoked as theauthority for it, works to shatter consensus realityandwhen people have no stable, shared worldview to believein, such as has been traditionally provided by religion orrational science, they will begin to believe in just aboutanything offered to fill the gap. This, of course, is an idealopportunity for the social engineers, who may in fact havebrought the destruction of commonly-held worldviews toan exact scienceas when the Central Intelligence Agencyreleased LSD into the U.S. population in the 1960s. Thepopularization of earth-killing asteroids, the idea thatthe moon landings never took place, and the scientificarguments that we are all living inside a computer simulation, may represent similar engineered assaults on consensus reality.

In view of the gradual leak of mind-boggling yet ambiguous information related to UFOs over a period of 74years (often at the hands of people with military or intelligence connections ), punctuated with every brand of wildspeculation, there are many indications that we have beensubject to a long-term social engineering project designedaccording to the gradualist approach pioneered by theFabian Socialists, who understood that the reliable transformation of collective beliefs and social forms is bestaccomplished not by violent revolution and inevitablecounter-revolution but through a step-by-step agenda ofattrition, seduction, and re-education.

Premier UFOlogist Jacques Vallee, for onethe modelfor the character of Lacombe in Steven Spielbergs movieClose Encounters of the Third Kindput forth thispossibility in his book Messengers of Deception (1979). Thepresent book contains a speculative history of this kind ofsocial engineering project in the United States since theend of World War II.

The UFO phenomenon cannot however simply be limited to a massive hoax of the Mission Impossible sort, since it is based on a real phenomenon (inexplicableaccording to our present understanding of the laws of physics) which is characterized both by undeniable physical evidence and by equally undeniable psychic and psychologicaleffects that can only be described as paranormal.

If we consider the physical evidence alone, we will be ledto conjecture that we are being visited by physical spacecraft from other planets piloted by the kind of sentientbeings presently termed aliens, ETs (extra-terrestrials),or EBEs (extraterrestrial biological entities).

If we consider the psychic evidence alone, we may conclude that we are in the presence of mental illness, eitherindividual or collective (whether or not it is being deliberately engineered), or of symbolic visionary experiences(this is what Carl Jung believed), or else of the activities ofnon-material spiritual entities.

And if we consider both physical and psychic evidence
