Thank God that Dr. Davis had the courage and prompting of the Holy Spirit to write Should I Speak in Tongues? His approach to this subject is biblically sound and challenging. I found the chapter listing the benefits of speaking in tongues to be excellent. The benefits far outweigh any stories of the misuse of tongues in some Christian circles. I appreciate his presentation of Bible truth without provoking one to a duel of theological opinions.

Dr. Gerald Davis has done it again! This is another great teaching for the body of Christ and the hungry soul who desires to be totally equipped by God. Should I Speak in Tongues? is well written and includes biblical evidence, as well as personal experience. The stories are awesome. I pray that all believers, from all denominations, get their hands on this book.

Should I Speak In Tongues? is a timely, informative, and thoroughly researched treatise. This gifted writer is a true general of our faith. All over the world, the Holy Spirit is bringing outpourings of unprecedented proportions, resulting in this phenomenon called speaking in tongues. Many people, however, are still confused, misinformed, uncertain, and misguided concerning whether or not this is of God. In light of this, my long time friend, Dr. Gerald Davis, has authored this must read document that fully explainsfrom experience and a biblical perspectivewhy speaking in tongues is germane to todays local, Bible-believing church. It is a masterpiece. Just as an attorney uses the law of the land to counsel and represent a client, Dr. Davis has made his persuasive case that this gift of God is both for you and for today. I pray you experience it soon!

In the short time I have known Gerald Davis, I have been influenced supernaturally and my life has changed because of my relationship with him. Few people can change a persons life just through fellowship. Gerald Davis is one of them. I continue to be intrigued by his knowledge of spiritual matters. He has a revelation level in Scripture like no one else I have known. I am convinced that the time he spends in Gods heavenly language has opened spiritual knowledge and revelation to this man. Having a heavenly language is having a direct access to the thoughts and directions of God. Gerald Davis knows this and presents this topic in a sensitive, loving, respectful, and heartfelt way for all Gods children of every denomination.

I dedicate this book effort to the very best friend of my lifetime, Jehovah Jireh , the God who never fails and Who is more than enough. It is His presence, so constantly with us, that has carried us through every storm in our lives.
My next best friend has been my sweetheart and wife of almost fifty-eight years, my beautiful and unspeakable gift from GodThelma Nell.
I also dedicate this book to our two handsome sons, Jerry and Tommy, and their lovely wives, Sally and Debbie. They both are honorable, respected, and successful men, fathers and grandfathers on their own. A father could not be more thankful for his sons, and for their love for him, than I am for these two special men.
I dedicate this book to my five grandchildren and their companions. You will see their pictures and read a comment from each of them within these pages.
I also make special mention of David Yanez, who organized and arranged the presentation of this book. David is a special God-given addition to this ministry. He has been a blessing to us in so many ways, as God has put it in his heart.
This dedication page would not be complete without offering a special thank you to our pastor and minister friends who have stood by our sides with their financial support, and by speaking well of us to their ministry friends.
I also include my partnersGods special peoplewho love Him and appreciate His ministries enough to stand by them with their monthly financial support. We could get nothing done without this mighty army of dedicated Christians. We would just have to spend our time on a secular job instead of being about the Fathers business.
It is my belief that a persons greatest assets are their friends and their family. I appreciate them more and more as I continue to age.
My hearts earnest desire is that this needed teaching will stir something within us, and, hopefully, within our nation, that will make a definite change in this present spiritual atmosphere in our spiritual, physical, and material lives.
It is not my intention to either attack or support any denominational doctrine with the following expressions or comments in this writing. Each of my readers will be encouraged to choose whatever doctrinal position he or she is comfortable with.
There are about one hundred and seventy-five different Christian denominations that teach different views while they all read the same Bible. My intention and purpose in this book is to share the benefits that I have experienced from speaking in tongues over a period of my lifetime. The following statement is a consistent truth with which no overcoming, victorious Christian would disagree:
If I let God do my arithmetic, He uses addition and multiplication.
If the devil gets involved, I will see subtraction and division.
The devil delights in dividing the body of Christ. Jesus prayed, That they may be one, as we are (John 17:11). My effort in this writing is for the purpose of showing believers in Jesus Christ the benefits of exercising the use of one of the listed gifts in
1 Corinthians 12, that of speaking in tongues. And also to provide some thoughts that will help bring the church body into harmony on this matter.
There are some definite reasons why the apostle Paul exclaimed, I speak with tongues more than ye all (1 Corinthians 14:18). Common sense tells me that he knew something about this gift that would cause him to do this. Curiosity alone should cause all of us to want to know what he knew.
Speaking in tongues is not just a doctrinal or religious thing to do. It has powerful and positive benefits. It is a tool for walking in the freedom wherewith Christ hath made us free (Galatians 5:1).
If you can bring yourself to do it, I will ask you to repress any pre-determined doctrinal position and just concentrate on the thoughts I will share. My only purpose in doing this writing is to help move the people of God up and into a stronger, more victorious life in God. In chapter 2, you will read four personal, dramatic miracles that were, without question, directly connected to prior speaking in tongues.
