THE GLOBAL MIND
AND THE RISE OF CIVILIZATION
The Global Mind and the Rise of Civilization addresses one of the crucial issues of our time, on which our future may depend: the relationship between human consciousness and the brain. The evidence shows that mind and brain are not identical, as we have been led to believe. Minds are capable of things that brains cannot do. The implicationthat we are more than our physical brains and bodieswill likely be regarded as the most important discovery of our era. Let Calleman be your guide on this exciting journey.
LARRY DOSSEY, M.D., AUTHOR OF
ONE MIND: HOW OUR INDIVIDUAL MIND IS PART
OF A GREATER CONSCIOUSNESS AND WHY IT MATTERS
In The Global Mind and the Rise of Civilization, Carl Johan Calleman formulates a unique outlook on human civilization, one that is deeply rooted in metaphysical changes in human consciousness. The effect is to reconcile diverse aspects of symbolism, myth, and theology, drawn from a wide range of ancient cultures.

THE SCIENCE OF THE DOGON AND

THE SPIRITUAL MATRIX FOR THE WORLDS COSMOLOGIES
What if human civilization is a product of an evolving global mind field that we are all part of?
What if this is a divine mind that always influences the way we think?

Preface
The current volume is the fourth I have written in the English language where the Mayan calendar provides the basic understanding of the fundamental structuring of evolutionary time. It has the distinction, compared to other ideas about the Mayan calendar, in that it looks upon this primarily as a description of the evolution of consciousness. I believe this way of structuring time remains just as powerful as ever for opening up different aspects of reality to a new and deeper understanding. My books based on this are:
Solving the Greatest Mystery of Our Time: The Mayan Calendar (Garev, 2001)
The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness (Bear & Company, 2004)
The Purposeful Universe: How Quantum Theory and Mayan Cosmology Explain the Origin and Evolution of Life (Bear & Company, 2009)
These are all relevant as backgrounds to the present book. Yet, even if these earlier books will facilitate the understanding of the present book, they are not in any sense prerequisites for reading it.
The book you are holding in your hand, The Global Mind and the Rise of Civilization, is the first I have written after the shift on October 28, 2011 and is thus partially an expression of the new consciousness brought by the Ninth Wave. It is the first in a post-shift-trilogy based on the new perspective on our existence that this shift has provided. The second volume in this trilogy, preliminarily entitled The Nine Waves of Creation: Quantum Physics, Holographic Evolution, and the Destiny of Humanity, will be published by Bear & Company later in 2016. Unlike the present volume it deals very much with what is happening in the world today and how, based on an expansion of quantum physics, we may understand where we come from and where we are meant to go. The third volume in this series will focus on altered states of consciousness, the pineal gland, and a theology based on this. The Nine Waves of Creation may be regarded as the central work of this trilogy, and the present volume, The Global Mind and the Rise of Civilization, provides a meaningful basis for the two volumes later to come.
The Global Mind (for short) presents a completely new and original perspective on our origins and the rise of the early civilizations on our planet. It outlines why there is a civilization here in the first place: spiritual imprints, or if you like, mental holograms emanating from Earth that have not previously been systematically studied, shape our minds and lie behind the course of history. The evolutionary process that results from our assimilation of such imprints is what has led up to how we currently live our lives. Since how we relate to our present reality, and its possible future transformation, very directly depends on how we look upon our own origins and our own minds, I invite you to explore this possibility with me in this book. As an alternative to the views of both mainstream and alternative historians, I will then argue that human civilization finds its origin in the mind, a global and collective mind of a divine origin that over time has changed in a predictable way. Even if this may sound like a conspiracy story, it is only so to the extent that we are unaware of how the mind works.
If the mind sounds like a trivial cause for the rise of civilization, I can assure the reader that it is not, and we will come to find on this journey that the mind has a different origin than most people believe. We will find that the conventional views of what the mind is, and how it has been created, are profoundly misleading and also potentially disempowering regarding how we shape our future. The heart of the matter is that history cannot be understood without understanding the mind and vice versa. If through these new insights we may now finally arrive at a higher and more inclusive truth, then these insights will serve to create a new clarity regarding our own mental evolution. I especially invite those eager for fundamental scientific and philosophical novelties to evaluate this theory as a potential part of the paradigm shift that many others and I believe is now taking place. This is not likely to be a theory that anyone has heard before, either regarding the mind or in regard to history and archaeology. It seems only now these areas of study are being directly connected on a deeper level.
The development of the theory presented in this book took its beginning around October 28, 2011, the date I had concluded, based on my studies of the ancient Maya and human history in general, would be the actual shift date of the Mayan calendar. To experience this shift of the ages, I decided to go to a mountain area between Sweden and Norway, located at the twelfth longitude east, in order to have as profound an experience of the shift as possible. This had the advantage of giving me relative seclusion from external influences in an important location at this particular time. While I was there I had an authentic experience of the shift between October 28, 2011, and October 29, 2011, which gave me a sense of how the waves of creation would continue from then on. Equally importantly and unbeknownst to me, several other people I knew to have a genuine sensitivity to the Mayan calendar also experienced this shift. The shift we experienced was very real.
