Eleven Years ago, my life was ripped away from me. My father, my brother, my humanity. Everything. I was thrown into the Kamps, created to become a mindless machine. But I fought against it, not letting them take away my memories of the past.
And I succeeded.
It has been seven years since I was taken out of the Kamps and made into the Emperor's Shadow. Now I only take orders from him, and him alone, without question. That is, until my brother, whom I thought was dead, shows up and kidnaps me in order to help him find some long lost planet that our father used to tell stories about. According to the legend, any who find the planet Sanshli can rewrite the past, and my brother wants to use it to destroy the Empire. My loyalty will always be to the Emperor, but what if this planet is real? And the longer I stay with my brother, the more I begin to find that the Emperor has been keeping secrets from me. But I can't turn my back on him...
Or can I?

CHAPTER ONE
CHRYS
The salty scent of the ocean filled my nostrils as a warm breeze caressed my skin.
My eyes batted open, and I found myself in a quaint room. The walls were made of a light wood, and nothing decorated the area except the single bed I found myself on, an end table, a dresser, and a chair on the other side of the room where a man sat. He had his red-haired head leaned against the wall, eyes shut. I didnt say anything quite yet, as I didnt know who he was or what I was doing there.
The aroma of the ocean came in from an open window, and the white curtains danced in the air. I would have found it quite relaxing if Id known why the hell I found myself there.
Or who the hell I was.
The man stirred and his eyes opened. I stared at him and quickly sat upright in my bed, not sure what to say. Once he saw me, he jumped up, causing me to clutch the blue quilt.
He approached me and I shrank back even more. He stopped, noticing my fear.
Youre awake! Are you okay? How are you feeling?
I glanced around. I didnt know if there were others in the house, but so far no one else had approached the room. I I dont know. Who are you? Where am I? Who am I?
I found it strange that his eyes seemed to flicker with happiness. He looked down at his hands. There there was an accident. You were attacked by a god by the name of Zeus. He thinks you are a threat and wants you dead. You didnt do anything, but luckily a couple of us were able to get you out of there, but not before he wiped your memories.
Im a goddess? I asked.
He nodded. Yes, one who is most powerful. We brought you somewhere where he will never find you and where we can train your powers and keep you safe. Then, when the time is right, you can defeat him.
That was a lot to process. I was a goddess and needed to learn to use my powers to kill another god? Was that even possible? What powers did I posses? It felt somewhat right, but I knew there was still something missing. But but I dont know who I am. Everything feels new to me. How can I trust what you are saying is true?
You are Papavera, but most people call you Vera. And you can believe me because I am your father.
I tried to sort through any memories I had, but everything was a blank. I didnt feel any attachment to the name, nor this man, but neither did it feel wrong.
Then my head started to hurt.
I placed my hand on my head. I I dont know what to think. This is a lot to take in. If you are telling the truth and I am your daughter, please tell me where we are.
You are on Aeaea, which is an island under the protection of the goddess Circe. She will help us train you and has potions and herbal formulas that will help you regain your powers and some of your memories. But first you should rest. Then when you awaken, I will introduce you to the others.
The mention of herbal potions brought up an image of a teacup in my hand and a woman who smiled. That memory made my head hurt even more.
I nodded. Yeah, that sounds good. I think I need more rest.
Good night, my flower.
As he left, my heart started aching from the nickname he called me. Was it from a memory?
Lying back down, I tried to hold on to that wordto that image of a dark-haired man whose face was foggy and unrecognizable.
My flower.
Before I knew it, I had dozed off once again.
The second time I awoke, the suns light was just beginning to peek through my open window. Birds chirped in the distance, bringing me back to the world I had found myself in.
Thats right. I couldnt remember anything.
At least I could remember that, I supposed. I got up, my legs wobbling a little. I wondered how long I had been asleep. After a moment, I was able to make my way to the dresser and open it up. Inside was filled with white sundresses and blue jeans. I grabbed one of each and put them on.
Glancing in the mirror, I felt off. This outfit was it something I had worn before? It looked good on me I had to admit, but something seemed strange. Then again, everything was strange right now.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to venture into the rest of the house and see if I could find the man whod said he was my father. Opening my door, I stepped into a hallway. I could hear voices to my right, so I decided to follow them.
As I ventured down the hallway, I was led into the living area and kitchen. A man and woman were sitting at the table, eating. When they saw me, they quickly got up.
Vera, you are awake! The man who called himself my father wrapped his arms around me. I am so glad. The last time you woke up was over two days ago.
Had it really been that long? It felt like I had simply closed my eyes and opened them again. What had happened to cause this? Could Zeus really have knocked me out like that?
He backed away and gestured to a woman who had long, curly brown hair and green eyes. This is Circe. She will be the one teaching you how to use your power. Both of us will be filling in the gaps that are missing from Zeuss attack.
What about the other person you mentioned? You said there were a couple of others.
Oh him My father bit his lip. Hes out. He has a lot of duties as a god, but dont worry. He will be back later, and I will introduce you to him.
Circe stepped up to me. It is a pleasure to finally meet you.
We havent met before? I asked.
She shook her head. No, we have not, but I am an old friend of your fathers. It actually works out as no one will suspect you are here since it has been over a millennium since your father and I have talked.
