Preface to Second Edition
Since the release of Energy Tapping in 2000, the popularity of energy tapping (ET) has continued to grow worldwide. More therapists are including ET in their repertoire and these techniques are being taught by more and more educators every year. Research support is also growing as a National Institute of Health funded study found that energy psychology was an effective treatment for weight maintenance. This second edition is an update of the original material, with coverage on more topics including high blood pressure, allergies, immunity issues, eating disorders, and ways to sustain and enhance passion and romance. We believe that many people, including therapists and medical practitioners, will find these and the original chapters to be useful and even valuable.
Its important to understand that the protocols covered here are not sacrosanct. Surely there are other tapping protocols that can be used to treat the conditions covered. However, we have found these protocols effective to a large extent, and that is the important claim we are making. Also, because you are a single individual, its possible that some protocols weve laid out will not work for you and other sequences may be needed. Please always keep this in mind and feel free to experiment to achieve what you are seeking. The important thing is to get results that enhance your health and happiness. Enjoy!

Part I
Understanding and Using Energy Psychology
Introduction
Your body has the ability to heal itself.
Andrew Weil, MD
Energy Tapping is a unique book that will help you to learn how to use your bodys energy system to better manage your life. Although several different names can be used to identify this process, the term we use is energy psychology. This healing technique is based on the ancient Chinese art of acupuncture, although instead of using needles to stimulate a change in the way you think and feel, energy psychology uses a simple tapping method of two fingers on specific points of your body. Once you understand this process and the location of the meridian points (provided via the diagrams throughout this book), you will learn how you can cope with or eliminate problems that you have struggled with for years. As psychologists who have been trained in numerous techniques and strategies, we have found energy psychology to be the most effective and efficient process for creating rapid change and effectively treating emotional and/or psychological issues.
