Daily Reminders for Living a New Paradigm: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "Daily Reminders for Living a New Paradigm" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

As a species, says author, teacher, and healer Anne Wilson Schaef, we humans arent functioning very well. In fact, the societies weve created are actively destructive, not only to themselves but to all life on this planet and even to the planet itself. Clearly its time for a change. We need a new paradigm, and we need a way to live it.
This new paradigm isnt something we can outline clearly and implement programmatically. To arrive at a new way of living with ourselves, one another, and the planet is a journey that requires faith, because we cant see exactly where it will lead. Quite frankly, where it will lead is, at this point, beyond our imagination.
However, we do have some resources to bring to the table. Schaef, whose classic and beloved works include Meditations for Women Who Do Too Much and Meditations for Living in Balance, explains that deep within ourselves in our cells, in our blood, in our souls we have the ancient knowledge we need to find our way. We simply need to be reminded of what we already know and this book is written to help us remember. Schaef takes thirty themes, one for each day of the month (months with 31 days get a wild card day), and offers a cycle of reflections on each theme that expands and deepens over the course of the year. Through insightful reflections on Beliefs and Assumptions, Honesty, Entitlement, Accepting Our Humanness, and Walking in Beauty, we enter a process that broadens our perspective and opens our minds so we can live fully into a new future.

This book is dedicated to those who, in the desperate longings
of their inmost beings, know that we, as human beings, have within
all of us the marvelous capacity to know and live the magnificent
wholeness, peace, and serenity that is our birthright.

This book is dedicated to those who, as I did many years ago,
in a fleeting moment gazing at the stars in Boulder, Colorado,
have EXPERIENCED and KNOWN the oneness that is within and
around us. Whether this KNOWING was a moment in meditation,
a sense in nature, an intensity of awareness in a near-death
experience, we knew wholeness beyond a doubt. And to those who
have not yet had this knowing, yet still believe it is possible.

May this book support and help you along the journey
of remembering what is good and real.

CONTENTS

There are many good people who realize that we humans, as a species and as the societies/cultures we have created, are not only not functioning very well, we are actively destroying ourselves, all life on this planet, and the planet itself. Clearly we need a drastic change in what we are doing and how we are doing it throughout the planet. In our evolution as a species and as a planet, we have taken many detours. Hopefully, as we bumble along we will be able to learn from our successes and most especially from our failures and move into a new way of being with ourselves, one another, and the planet as a whole.

There are some who have very specific ideas about what this new paradigm should be and what it needs to look like. In the way we function now as humans, we want to know what the end point is while we are still on the journey. All too often this illusion that we can know it all motivates much of how we spend our time and energy.

Fortunately for us all, we cannot know where we are going or what the end of the journey looks like because the coming into being of this new way of living with ourselves, one another, and the planet is a process. It is a process that requires our participation and faith that as we participate as fully and as clearly as we can, we will help create new ways of being that are, quite frankly, at this point beyond our imagination. However, we do have some resources to bring to the table.

Deep within our cells, our DNA, the blood of our ancestors, our racial memories, and the core of our beings is the information of another way of living and being on this planet that can point us in a good direction. It is there deep inside all of us.

At this point in our human history, this information may be more easily accessed by those who have been disenfranchised by the dominant culturewomen, minority groups, native people, and even alcoholics in recovery. All these groups are not so deeply embedded and enmeshed in the current dominant culture. They have less to lose by being different because they already are. They have fewer layers to dig through to reach this ancient wisdom.

Yet how lucky we all are that deep inside of us is our connection with the all that is and we can enter a process that reminds us of what we already know.

In order to access this information, I have written this book to help us remember a process to get to what is buried deep in us all. I believe that reminding us of this truth is very important at this time in the process of evolution of the human race and the planet.

I have taken 30 themes and will provide a process of focusing on each of these themes every month. The 31st of those months that have them will be wild cards of issues I felt important to mention.

I hope these reminders will be helpful. We need to remember that there is still a great deal that we do not know as human beings and even more that we do not know how to know. And if we can just remind ourselves of the need to be open to these realities, we can trust the process of the unfolding.

In some ways this book can be seen as a process of deculturizing our minds so we can be open to broader perspectives, what Willis Harman called a global mind change... and more.

Thank you for joining with me.

There is no way to live into a new paradigm without having a knowing about and - photo 4

There is no way to live into a new paradigm without having a knowing about and an acceptance of the reality that everything is process. In our present world dominated by Western thinking, we tend to see and act as if what are actually processes are thingswhether it be our cars, our houses, ourselves, our families, or even systems and cultures, and our world. We have come to a place where we want ourselves and our world to be tangible, real, and most of all controllable.
