Adulting for Jesus: A Book about Purpose, Trusting God, and (Obviously) Burritos: summary, description and annotation

If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

Is adulthood a curse? What should I do with all these participation trophies? As young adults try to figure things out and answer deep, soul-heavy questions, theyre given flak for living in extended adolescence. In a world that insists we can (and should) have it all, Adulting for Jesus uses humor to offer topical advice and encouragement for those who are asking, Is this really all there is?
Develop realistic expectations and a healthy, godly outlook on life for:
  • relationships
  • calling
  • blessings
  • serving
  • sabbath
  • social media
  • anxiety
  • Readers will find that by learning to laugh at themselves and find humor in situations, the reduced stress and anxiety makes the ride so much more enjoyable. Most importantly, the more young adults learn about God and see His faithfulness in their lives, the more they grow to love His will, even if its not exactly what they imagined.

    What people are saying about

    Adulting for Jesus

This is an amazing book, and will speak to anyone who is trying to find their way in life or anyone who loves such a one. Im asked to read dozens of books a year for endorsements, and this is the first time Ive ever sent one to my twenty-something daughter telling her she has to read it. As you dive in, you will find the same thing I have in sharing the stage with Kristin at many womens conferences: she is both hilariously funny and profoundly insightful.

Shaunti Feldhahn, social researcher, bestselling author of For Women Only and For Men Only

Kristins hilarious musings and mishaps as a not-yet-arrived young adult and reluctant singleton are in full form here. But its her honest admission of some very real doubts and struggles that sets this book apart. Will God really take care of me? If I never get married, will I still be loved? Shouldnt my life be more exciting than this? In her angst, she takes us straight to Gods Word for answers. If you need new motivation (and legit practical tips) for getting unstuck in a few areas of your life, get this book.

Lisa Anderson, director of Boundless.org, author of The Dating Manifesto

Funny, inspiring, and all-around amazing! Those are the words Kristin used to describe me when asking that I read her book. Turns out she didnt need to butter me up because the book is awesome. I will never look at Jesus or a burrito the same way.

    Bob Smiley, comedian

As funny on stage as she is off, Kristin Weber offers a delightful and delightfully deep walk through life in her book, Adulting for Jesus. On one page I found myself giggling, and on another I found myself gaping at the grace of God, as displayed through the wonderfully creative pen of Kristin Weber. Do any adult (or near-adult) in your life a favor: get them this book, and watch them laugh themselves right into the arms of a loving Savior.

Allison Allen, speaker and author of Shine and Thirsty for More

Kristin Weber is funny and clever in her approach to communication and could get you really excited about pursuing your dreams.

Michael Jr., comedian, author, and creator of the Funny How Life Works curriculum

Kristin Webers new book, Adulting for Jesus, made me laugh out loud at times with her witty storytelling and anecdotes. Yet at the same time I was struck at her insight into the issues of our ever-changing culture. She presented the challenges for young adults today as they seek to follow Jesus in a way that has sometimes mystified those of us who havent walked in their shoes. This book is a must-read for young adults as well as those who seek to encourage and mentor them.

Melissa Spoelstra, author of The Names of God and other Bible studies and books

Kristin Weber is amazing. Not only because she plays the accordion, a skill that she notes has propelled her from rags to nicer rags, but because she is very, very funny. Funny in a vulnerable kind of way that catches you off-guard and opens you up to her practical, wise advice about growing into adulthood. I hope Adulting for Jesus becomes a classic for the millennial generation and those who love them and live with them.

Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries

People ask me to endorse books all the time and normally I think things like How did Tim Hawkins get my email address? or When did he have time to write a book; isnt he running for reelection? But when I got this book I couldnt put it down, which was awkward because it was on my laptop and a Comadore 64 is very heavy to hold. This book is funny, thought provoking, and will completely change how you look at burritos.

    Jonnie W., comedian

The first time I met Kristin, I walked away thinking, What a breath of fresh air! Her writing style matches my in-person experience and offers the perfect mix of both humor and wisdom. You will love this book and feel like you are having a conversation with a long-time friend. If ever there was a time for a dose of Kristin, it is now!

Vicki Courtney, bestselling author and speaker

I really enjoyed this book; the grammar was perfect! Also, I am really glad Kristin finally got a job and a plan for her life.

Kerri Pomarolli, comedian, actress, author of Confessions of the Proverbs 32 Woman, KerriPom.com

With passion and depth, Kristin guides readers not only to discover Gods will for their lives but to live in the center of it and live joyfully! Many of us love rules and formulas (and essential oils) because they give us confidence that things will go a certain way. Its with this kind of humorous guidance laced with Scripture and depth that Kristin assists young adults in making the most of their lives. This is a must-read for any young adult who wants the most out of life.

Susie Shellenberger, DD, author of 57 books and full-time speaker

Kristin Weber is an adult who does things for Jesus. She could not be more qualified to write this book. And of the accordion-playing comedian authors I know, shes top 3.

Dustin Nickerson, stand-up comedian (Comedy Central, Netflix)

    Introduction
    People Tell Me Things

Last year I spent some time with my friend Lisa at her house in Colorado Springs. Lisa and I met working on staff at a summer camp as teenagers, and our friendship has deepened over the years. We get each other, and love spending time together when we can, but Lisas life couldnt look more different from mine. Lisa got married in her early twenties, and she and her husband live at the base of the Rocky Mountains raising their six (soon to be seven) kids. Theyve moved only once, a few miles from where they started their life together. Lisas home is delightfully chaotic, with children going about their homework, chores, and play. I, on the other hand, have moved six (soon to be seven) times as an adult, am still single in my midthirties, and dont have children. I make my living dragging an accordion all over the United States performing goofy parodies for various events, hoping one day Weird Al will take notice and let me open for him.
