We all have dreams and expectations of life. But life is unpredictable. No matter what we do or how we live, we are certain to encounter trials and setbacks, frustrations and real suffering. The question is, how are we to respond when we are blindsided by troubles? What can we do when life knocks the wind out of us?
If youre like most people, when hardship hits you can think of countless situations youd rather be in. Yet the secret of making it through is in learning how to make right choices and thrive in the middle of difficulty.
In Get Over It and On with It!, outspoken Bible teacher Michelle McKinney Hammond finds contemporary application in the ancient stories of several men and women who took the path from suffering to overcoming. Their journeys teach us how to press through hardship and get to the other side of our disappointment.

Michelle McKinney Hammond has a unique way of bringing the characters of Scripture to life in a real and practical way. At times I see myself in her words, at times others, but always I see the sovereignty of God directing and guiding behind the scenes. Michelle makes Scripture applicable to todays problems, so that we soon discover they are not all that unique after all.

Get Over It And On With It is truly empowering. Each and every chapter is personal, practical, and applicable. On the one hand I hear the voice of experience; on the other, I hear the voice of a girlfriend. Either way, because Michelles love for the Word of God is so evident, theres no way one can miss hearing the voice of God.

FOREWORD

Michelle McKinney Hammond is one of the most exuberant and effervescent young women I have met in my fifty years of ministry Not only do these words characterize her, but consistency, focus, and durability are also her strengths. I have watched her grapple with life in its disappointing seasons, only to see her emerge with the smell of victory permeating her personality.

It is difficult to go through lifes ups and downs and not gain insight. Get Over It and On With It! is a wonderful manual on how Michelle herself has successfully handled lifes struggles and won. It is a guide for success, simply because it is Scripturally based and sound in the manner in which God charts our pathways.

Along with the aforementioned, the book has personality! You will laugh, cry, think, and ultimately rejoice as you come to understand that you can leap every hurdle thrown across your path. You will be brought to a wonderful realization that getting over means sailing above, and getting on means leaving those things behind you while living in a brighter hope. You will conclude the reading of this book by saying, There really is gain in my pain, promotion in the commotion, and advances in all circumstances.

Chip McGregor, have I told you lately how much I appreciate you?

Once upon a time, there were twin brothers. One optimistic. One pessimistic. For the sake of understanding their different temperaments, their mother enlisted the help of a noted psychologist.

The psychologist instructed her to put the pessimistic child in a room filled with various sizes and shapes of wrapped presents. The optimistic child was to be placed in a room filled with manure.

With this task done, the mother and the psychologist visited the children to gauge each ones response to his circumstances. They found the pessimistic child sitting among his presents, gazing at them in complete disbelief. When asked why he had not opened any, he simply stated, They couldnt possibly be for me!

Moving on to the next child, they were a bit concerned to see no sign of him in the manure-filled room. They called for him, and his head emerged from one of the piles. When asked what he was doing, he answered, With this much mess, theres got to be a pony in here somewhere!
