T here are certain important choices in your life that will determine who you are and, more important, who you will become. It is said that everything happens for a reason, and for the most part, I truly believe in this statement. It has proven to be true over and over in my lifetime already! When an event happens in your life, just remember its always your decision what you do about it. Thats the free will we all have.

Some years ago, I had a near-fatal automobile accident, which was to totally change my life. I consciously chose to let that potentially tragic event alter my course, even though I didnt fully know at the time the deeper reason for it, nor could I have possibly known the extent of the ripple effect of that one event on the thousands of lives that would be touched over the years to come. I knew that this was the big wake-up call that I couldnt ignore or pretend wasnt happening. After all, it was an opportunity to take a hard look at my lifestyle and to set about making some very needed changes across the board in all areas of my life. I now know that it was this event that catapulted me onto the path to becoming a spirit whisperer.

When you follow your path the purpose of being all that you can be, namely a Divine being who uses all your talents, gifts, and abilities to help others youll start to notice doors opening in your life, offering you choices and new directions. After the accident, I made that commitment and followed a new path, which gave me the confidence to do this work. Once I made that leap of faith, new doors and meaningful opportunities appeared in all areas of my life.

As I look back while writing this book, it seems like a lifetime ago that I made that commitment to become a professional medium, as well as writing my first book, Born Knowing. Im sure you wont be surprised to read that I feel like a completely different man than the John who sat down all those years ago to write the first part of my story. I never expected that what started out as a feeling inside me that all-knowing feeling that I was different would develop into something that would guide and influence my whole life.

My life is certainly not a typical one. I dont live a nine-to-five schedule, and I never know whats going to come up from one day to the next. Theres no set script to this work, yet everything I do somehow relates back to my work. Each day, the e-mails, letters, and messages from people whove either read my books or been to one of my lectures and demonstrations or to one of my smaller group gatherings constantly touch me. I never thought that when I went to study mediumship in England back in the 1990s Id become one of the top mediums on the circuit today. I feel blessed and honored. However, Im forever reminding myself that Im just an ordinary man, and Im so grateful that I never have to work as a spirit whisperer alone, for in reality, I have the assistance of my guides, and those who have passed on.

Over the years, Ive lost count of the number of books Ive signed, but for me its not so much about signing a book as about the moment I spend with that person. I still relish the intimate validations, the brief encounter, or just that all-important hug thats needed after a message has touched someones heart and soul. It has been more than seven years since
