By day, Monica Holys life looks like millions of others. She paints, jogs, talks to friends, and worries about her children. Monicas nightlife is a different story. Since birth, she has entered extraordinary worlds of consciousness through the portal of lucid dreams. While there, she conducts souls to the other side and to the light, teaches, guides, and heals. She enters those non-ordinary realities not just to explore them, but to work on behalf of the human community. In Fringe Dweller on the Nightshift, she eloquently recounts her psychic and spiritual work with the troubled dead, the newly dead or those about to die especially children to provide emergency relief. She also brings back messages from the world beyond this one, by offering each and every one of us inspiration and ideas for honoring our feelings and connecting to the divine expression of all that is. Ultimately, we will all see The Grid (chapter 10): the invisible reality beyond our five senses that underlies all physical form as we know it. Fringe Dweller on the Nightshift combines cosmic adventure with down-to-earth practical information part art, part memoir, part philosophy, part guidance, this book is a work of the heart.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK Not only is Monica Holy an excellent writer but I was - photo 1

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK

Not only is Monica Holy an excellent writer, but I was immediately captured by her personal introduction into her fascinating, but often lonely, life. I was enthralled by her insight into the spirit world, her philosophy of life and God, and her delightful sense of humor. The exhilarating discovery of the knowing, the healing equation, and ethereal bodies in Fringe Dweller are concepts that will bring me guidance, inspiration, and hope always.

Deena Budd, paranormal editor at BellaOnline

Fringe Dweller is a humble and honest portrayal of Monica's journey in understanding and coming to grips with her incredible gift. Her writing is very timely in a world where more people are seeking answers and clarity about who we are and why we are here. It's one of those books where you forget you are reading and the story just unfolds in your mind like a movie.

Byron Close, production manager at Corus Radio Calgary

Monica has overridden the phrase fear of death with the phrase embrace life. I lost my mother in March, but now that I've read Fringe Dweller I've totally taken on a new attitude toward my grief. This has made a difference in my acceptance of what was a loss, but is no longer.

Steve Bolton, professor in the Broadcasting Media Department, Loyalist College

Monica's life purpose on earth is to assist souls to move to the other side during a traumatic death. Her ability to reach into the world of spirit and work with the souls there puts her in a league with Stuart Wilde, Sylvia Browne, John Edward, and Rosemary Altea.

Carolyn Long, psychotherapist

To say that Monica Holy challenges the boundaries of time and space and everything in between is an understatement. Monica's personal insights and documentation of her other-worldly journeys in the waking, dream, and inter-dimensional states is, simply put, amazing and awe inspiring.

Jerry Rector, author, actor, director, producer, healer

Monica gives us a personal and extensive tour of a world beyond our fingertips; a world some of us (until now) have only caught a glimpse of. As soon as you close this book, you'll want to pick it up and read it all over again.

Reiner Derdau, documentary film director and producer

CONTENTS
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I'd like to express my gratitude to the following, without whom my story would not have been possible.

To my mother, for the first leg of my journey, whose love of books introduced me to many new worlds of unlimited potential and possibility.

To my father, whose neverending patience taught me to observe things from more than one perspective, and that where there's a will, there's a way.

To my sons, who have been my teachers of unconditional love, my connection to the waking life. Thank you for your understanding of my leap of faith.

To Lynn, whose words don't be afraid to be who you are readied my flight for the second leg of my journey.

To my mentor and friend Carolyn Long, who took me under her wing and nurtured my feathers, with which I was able to soar.

For leading me to the discovery of my own inspiration, I'd like to thank Dr. Wayne Dyer.

To Glenn, who held up the mirror that challenged me to recognize where my divinity lives.

To Ellen DeGeneres, who in those dark days of blah, brought a smile to my face, started my day with an hour of laughter, and is a true inspiration to be who you are.

Although the experiences are all mine, this book would not have been written without Hillary Wood, my ghost writer, whose patience endured the ramblings of an Aquarian mind, and whose skill wove it all together while capturing my essence.

To Ginny Weissman, who believed my story, my truth, my dreams, and recognized my intention and desire to get my story to those who would benefit from its telling.

To Nikki, who recognized a lost heart, and chose to be its guardian. Thank you for standing by me, and choosing to take this leap of faith with me, wherever it may lead.

Finally, to Jan Johnson of Red Wheel, who felt my story needed to be told. Thank you for taking this walk with me.

This journey, this book is a sum of many hearts, my gratitude goes out to all who have played a part thank you.

Monica Holy

INTRODUCTION

Sometimes I wonder where I begin, where I end. The borders by which other people seem to define themselvestheir own skin, their unique circumscribed thoughtselude me. At night I slip out of my skin and my spirit takes flight. It has always been so with me. Even as a child I didn't sleepI went in the dark to those that called me. I call this part of my life the Night Shift, for every night a shift takes place and I move through parallel worlds, through other dimensions.

In the Night Shift, the weight of matter gets peeled back like the veil of the sun's light that hides the vast expanse of the star-filled sky. My job in the other dimensions is to work with energythe eternal, ubiquitous source of all that is, was, and will ever be.

Science has no wayyetto map the geography of spirit lands, or measure the weight of the souls that inhabit the spaces-in-between. And so I have no proof to bring back to the waking world. I struggle to express the ineffable freedoms and communions of spirit flight, to describe the extraordinary powers that are at play in the invisible matrix.

It is not my intent to try and convince you of the truth of telepathy, telekinesis, astral travel, life after death, reincarnation, and the existence of spirit, or to explain quantum physics. There are many fine books written on these subjects. I wish only to share my story and to allow providence to bring to it the readers who need, or want, to hear it.

I've been on the Night Shift since childhood. I grew up in a normal household filled with the ordinary demands of earning daily bread, getting children off to school, and performing accepted social roles. My family history betrayed no hints of strange powers passed from generation to generation. Our library had no books about magic, psychic ability, or the psychology of consciousness. I had no knowledge of the Eastern or Native religions that look more kindly on journeys of consciousness. I had no language to describe my experiences, and with the exception of a couple of friends in high school, no one I could talk to about them. So I learned to keep silent.
