Grant Jeffrey is now a bestselling author throughout North America. His breakthrough book was his first, Armageddon: Appointment With Destiny. Bantam Books later picked it up, and it turned out to be their No. 1 religious best seller in 1990.

Philip Marchand, Book Review Editor, Toronto Star, Aug. 1, 1992

We need to have a biblically-based outlook on Bible prophecy. Thats why we are featuring Grant Jeffrey in our magazine. His book Armageddon: Appointment With Destiny explores the amazingly accurate fulfillment of past prophecies, and examines the prophecies that relate to this time period leading to the Second Coming of Christ.

Jerry Rose: Past President, National Religious Broadcasters

Armageddon: Appointment With Destiny has been our hottest single religious title. We took it on with tremendous enthusiasm because there was something very exciting about the way Grant wrote, and it was something that we thought might go beyond the traditional religious audience.

The Handwriting of God is the result of countless hours of research involving thousands of books, articles, and commentaries, plus countless hours of Bible study over the last thirty-five years. Although almost one hundred volumes are referred to in the footnotes and selected bibliography, these books represent a fraction of the authors who have influenced and challenged my thinking. However, the inspired Word of God is the major source and continual guide to my studies.

The Bible is under relentless attack today in the universities, the seminaries, and the media. Yet everything we believe as Christians, our hope for salvation and heaven itself, depends upon the total truthfulness and trustworthiness of the sacred Scriptures. I believe it is time for Christians to stand up and launch a vigorous defence of the inspiration and authority of the Word of God. The Handwriting of God is a small contribution to that defence of the authority of Scripture. This book continues the theme established in my last book, The Signature of God, that the Lord has clearly placed within the sacred pages of the Holy Bible evidence that should convince any inquiring mind that the Bible is the true and inspired Word of God.

My parents, Lyle and Florence Jeffrey, have inspired within me a profound love for Jesus Christ and His holy Word. Their encouragement over the years means so much to me.

A very special thanks to Adrienne Jeffrey, my niece, who has worked very closely with me through this entire project in the research and editing.

My heartfelt appreciation to Nancy Phillips, whose superb editorial skills have made this manuscript complete.

I dedicate The Handwriting of God to my lovely wife, Kaye, who is my inspiration, my faithful partner in ministry, and the manager of our publishing company.

I trust that the information revealed in the following pages will encourage you to personally study the Word of God and come to know Jesus of Nazareth in a deeper way.

Introduction

Can we trust the Bible? Does Scripture present the truth about God, mankind, and eternity? Is Christianity credible? Can we rationally believe that Jesus of Nazareth actually rose from the dead two thousand years ago? Is Jesus Christ truly the only way of salvation for mankind? Is it possible, as we approach the year 2000, for an intelligent person to still believe that the ancient Scriptures are truly the inspired Word of God? Is the Bible truly without error and trustworthy, despite the growing attacks on its authority in our generation? The answers to these questions are vital if we are to arrive at any meaningful conclusions about the Bibles claim that it alone is the genuine written revelation of God.

The Bible is certainly the most fascinating and controversial book ever written. The Word of God is unique among religious and philosophical literature. No other book in history has boldly and repeatedly made the absolute claim that it alone is the unique and authoritative revelation of God to humanity. The Bible declares in over three thousand verses that it is the Word of God. Both the Old and New Testaments abound with statements such as saith the Lord. (Exodus 4:22; Hebrews 8:8).

The Bible is under relentless attack today both in the universities, the seminaries, and the media. Yet everything we believe as Christians, our hope for salvation and heaven itself depends upon the total truthfulness and trustworthiness of the sacred Scriptures. In the first few centuries of this era Christianity suffered greatly from its outward enemy, pagan Rome. However, in the final generation as we look for Christs return the greatest attacks on the fundamental beliefs of the Church come from those who profess to be Christians while abandoning every one of the tenets of the orthodox faith that have been defended by believers for two thousand years. I believe it is time for orthodox Christians to stand up and launch a vigorous defence of the inspiration and authority of the Word of God. The Handwriting of God is a small contribution to that defence of the authority of Scripture. This book continues the theme established in my last book The Signature of God that the Lord has clearly placed within the sacred pages of the holy Bible evidence that should convince any inquiring mind that the Bible is the true and inspired Word of God. I hope to provide you with the evidence from the words of Scripture together with the evidence from science, history, and the Bible Codes that proves that the Bible is truly the Word of God.
